How do royalties work when someone has co-writing credits and does the vocals on one cut of an album. I imagine the cut would be bigger the bigger the sales. Co-writers get a share of the songwriters' royalties -- the share is a negotiated percentage with the other writers -- sometimes based on how much they wrote, sometimes a way to compensate a performer. A "featured" vocalist does not get royalties as a performer.

Are the WeAreKing singers on the record, too? (the women that worked in the studio w/Nile and Adam) Not that I can hear but there could be more than one track from those recording sessions.

squidbert, hi! Love your avi. makes me think of a steampunk Alice in Wonderland 8-) I don't really watch Idol either, just lucked out with Adam's season (saw Satisfaction and was hooked!) Thankfully, as Q3 says, Adam doesn't seem to be in such need of Idol this year. He shows himself to be genuinely grateful to Idol which is all good...but it is also good for him to be perceived as growing beyond it. Not fair but he himself says there is stigma in "being seen as a reality show contestant". I think his judging will just seem like an extension of this, unlike the other "stars" being considered. Steampunk Alice in Wonderland, I love it Maybe I'll go back and add me some goggles on my head. Yeah, Adam probably doesn't need Idol but we can never get enough of him.

Of course, the exposure and prestige of getting to sing on an album from a huge artist like Avicii is almost compensation enough. I am just thrilled about this opportunity for Adam. Fingers crossed that LMD is a single.

I would just buy and gift the single. You can do a few on iTunes and a few on Amazon. Selling the album will give Adam the same royalty as 1 single and not do much for Adam. JMHO. For that we have to wait until the single is released. Note: Avicii has enough fans that we do not need to help him sell albums. exactly. I will buy the Adam song only. Hmm...on Canadian Itunes ...you can only order the album....Anyone have a suggestion for purchases of just the single?

Can the Idol judge thing just be over??? I'm ready for iHeart, Glee, Avicii-Nile-Adam song and new A3 music. Lots of good things coming without the Idol mess. ( But, I'd still be glad for Adam if he's a judge and, of course, wouldn't miss an episode.)

I'm questioning buying strategy. buy Album from Amazon and then single from Itunes. Saw Patti suggest it on twitter and that seems to be a way to run both ends against the middle. Give the album a hit and then run up Adams numbers on the single? My wallet has been crying to give Adam some money. Plus Stub Hub has been calling my name. I would just buy and gift the single. Shaking my head. You guys said everything I am now thinking about the potential panel, the to-be-expected outcome with regards to ratings and my personal regret, to see a good show get mismanaged so badly. The whole thing is at the expense of future artists who may be looking for a platform and will not find it now. Voice and X-factor are only about the show itself and not about the artists' careers and the one show that did produce stars or at least successful recording artists, is on some sort of suicide mission. The maddening thing is, that in principle there was no reason for all this. It is incompetence upon incompetence on too many levels that is causing this. Idol, the patient, is clearly still stuck: At this point, I am throwing away this batch of mashed potatoes. I suspect that just like last year, in the end we will be grateful that Adam has nothing to do with it, because this will deteriorate further. I'm sadz for idol though. ETA: Sorry, for not being more golden when it comes to idol. Will go and focus back on Adam now, that is where things are looking so much brighter. Feels much better already

Whatever happens with Idol, I am so happy about the Avicii-Nile-Adam collaboration that I really am OK with Idol not happening. I have wanted Adam to do a dance track with contemporary beats and his voice unmodified AND NO DR. LUKE!!! And one of he best things about Adam being away from Idol is the the evil Dr. Luke cannot get his paws on Adam's tracks ever again! (I hope.)
ETA: The single will not be able to be purchased until it is released. And if this single is not a hit, I know absolutely nothing. Cause this is a hit!!
New thread is up.
