Craazyforadam, I agree! The scheduling comment was all about Kelly. And like you said, TPTB are too unimaginative to think that they could actually have one alumn on a panel (Probably the most popular contestant they've ever had too)

We all know Adam is a very bright man and having said this has anyone had the thought that one reason Adam was doing covers was to maneuver RCA into the covers album. As I understand it Adam refusing to do this was the deal breaker. He was getting press hits even from a keek. Imma gonna quote myself because I really really want an opinion on this. Was RCA maneuvered into thinking this was a quick money maker? Did DMG pounce on the covers to get the most press? Did RCA really think Adam was interested and then he pulled the rug out from under them. Personally I like this theory but don't have enough knowledge of how the contracts work to really make a statement.

All I can say is that if will.i.am is a judge, they'd better make it a panel of four and add an interpreter. He likes to use rhyme-speak which a) gets old pretty quickly and b) doesn't always make sense. I read somewhere that will said he wouldn't do the Voice UK without Jessie J who is leaving (as is the guy from The Script). That only leaves Tom Jones, if he stays.
AFL looks quite happy these days. Moving on.

I'm just glad I'm not invested in Idol anymore. On the other hand, I am happy that Adam is so happy lately, so whatever is going on, I'm on board! Can't wait to hear that new Avicii single--it sounds great and Adam is using his blues voice, which is always yummy.

Well, I think RCA was afraid of putting money into another album that might perform poorly. So, the only option they were willing to support was a cheap, "quick buck for the holidays" cover album that would basically sell to the fanbase. And this may be unpopular, but I also believe that the whole cover album scenario could have been a means to essentially push Adam out, since they probably knew that he would not be crazy about the idea. I will also admit that the break with RCA was the first indication to me that Idol might not be in the cards for Adam, since I think the label would have worked harder to keep him (or at least given him the option of another album of original music) had they known he was going to have the huge exposure that being on the show every week would have given him.

I think what happened in the judges panel mess is found in this quote: “I just want to find chemistry that is comfortable and right for the show and not have that be an issue.” www.deadline.com/2013/08/tca-keith-urban-set-to-return-to-american-idolI think they were afraid of being creative and went with comfortable. Adam is interesting, challenging, makes you think, never just comfortable.

I haven't respected Ryan S. since he played that "bottom 3" garbage with Adam that one time on AI8 years ago -- takes me awhile to get over things. I would bet the Ryan didn't have anything to do with that. He is a voice and reads cue cards. Can't imagine he is a decision maker on how to handle things.
