I was delighted that Adam gave a shout out to Laverne Cox. I wish I knew what inspired him to do it at that moment. We are almost finished watching Orange is the New Black. It is a fantastic show. Maybe he is watching it too! We have heard interviews on NPR with those involved with the show and it is fascinating to hear some of the back stories. Quality television, too bad only available to Netflix subscribers. Thanks. Just added it to my Netflix streaming queue. I had never heard of the show prior to Adam's tweet and I haven't liked some of the shows he liked so I didn't automatically check it out. DH and I don't have cable and survive off of Netflix streaming and Amazon Prime. Feel free to PM me if you have any other Netflix streaming recommendations.  BTW, I am currently watching "Long Way Around" on Netflix streaming. Highly recommend. I have been watching the show also...in fact, was watching a couple of episodes last night....and it is really good. I am really enjoying it...almost done though :( |

I haven't had a chance to watch OITNB yet, but I agree with the recommendation for Long Way Round. I really enjoyed it, too!

Ya know, it's a long weekend, I think I'll watch GNT Live -- haven't watched it in awhile. I was thinking today that it has been a VERY long time since I have seen Adam live -- he seems to be staying on the coasts and I can't swing Vegas. Well, I don't want lousy seats for the price. It also seems like it's going to be a while before he drops A3. No label, no pressure. Good and not so good thoughts on the label situation but primarily good. He makes great music and I'm glad he's free to make more. I predict that his exposure on Glee is going to open up several hosting opportunities. I hope his character is one that the viewing audience embraces -- nemesis or not. I sort of feel like he'll do a brief stint on Broadway -- does Kinky Boots have a lead role? You know how people show up and take the lead for 6 weeks or so.....maybe something like that "just for the hell of it." His album launch has got to be spot on this time around. I do feel like he gained some industry respect for splitting with RCA. I do think he is going to blow the lid off with his upcoming performance with Queen. I hope that starts up some sort of momentum for him. I'm excited about his collaborations too. I wonder which one will take off??!!

I didn't interpret what he said as "runs should not be used," period. I just thought he was saying that it's not necessary to use runs in every song, and some songs simply sound better without them. Personally, I think runs are waaaaaay overused in Idol, and often the impression I get is that the singer can't hold a steady note and is using runs to disguise that fact. That's not always the case, of course, but I get really tired of hearing each and every note turned into seven, and I agreed with Harry that Kree's song did not call for runs. I have to disagree with that. IMO singers use runs because: 1) They know how, 2) They want to show that they can do it, 3) It enhances songs. I think it takes skill to use runs and it does add to the phrasing of many songs. Beiber is learning, even tho he's not very good now, but I think with experience, he might do OK. Blake Shelton doesn't like runs at all, but I guess most country singers don't use it (I really don't know)? Adam, ofc, is very skilled at it, and uses it appropriately. I totally agree. I love the runs, it shows off teqnuqie and the beauty of the voices. I can;t imaging Adam singing without them. As far as the new judge person - I haven;t seen him mentoring except for the posted You Tube - and that was waaaay annoying to see.... |
