You made some good points here mszue, IMO and I really agree with the boldet part! ITA with that last paragraph. Robin Thicke has gotten NONE of the backlash that Miley has. I didn't see him backing away when Miley backed her ass up to him at the VMAs. He is just as responsible, if not more, because it is his music, but really nothing has been said against him in the press. I find this the most disturbing of anything. When I was in college just a few years ago I had a Sociology class and I was apalled at how the younger women wanted to play the subservient role in their marriages. What did the genrations before us work so hard for when these younger women want to go back to the old days? One young girl was a saying "I WANT to wash his clothes, cook for him and clean the house for him." Granted she had not been married very long. Of course, I tried to tell her 15 to 20 years down the road, if he doesn't help you out now, he surely won't then. One of the many reasons I am no longer married, I felt like the cook, maid, etc. not someone he truly cared about. Rant over!!!! Sorry, I just have to answer this one. People want the choice, want the OPTION to. And some of us might prefer to stay at home. Subservience or not is an internal dynamic within the relationship, not a function of our role in it.... The girl who wants to stay home now - she HAS the option to go out and find her own job in the future. True, she won't earn as much then than if she decides to pursue her career from the very start, but she if she knows that and is willing to take that trade-off, why not? That is the progress that has been made, and that people are thankful for. Otherwise, women are being forced into this new role as much as they were being forced into their roles in times past. Right?

One of the many reasons I am no longer married, I felt like the cook, maid, etc. not someone he truly cared about. Rant over!!!! The problem is, IMO, the young girls even don't think of the lyrics or the sense of the music video listening/watching the song. I accidentally talked about the Miley's performance and 'Blurred Lines' song with my students and some of them (girls) were like "AWWWW, the song is so cool!" And when I told them "Have you seen the vid and read the lyrics?" they were like: "But it's normal, almost all music is the same in these days. It doesn't matter." Well... When I see sometimes the way some boys threat their girlfriends, I'm terrified (lack of interest, machos, vulgar, abusive even). I often ask "How you can allow them to treat you like that??!!" And most of the girls even don't notice those boys do something wrong! They take their behavior and ill-treatment as "normal". OMG! I'm married. I'm 30 years happily married. And I have to say, I love my husband. I love to take care about him. I even love to cook for him, wash his clothes and clean the house for him. Anyway, I expect from him to do some other things for me - loving me, taking care about me, helping me, being my partner and lover, not only my husband. Thankfully, it works! I'm a very independent woman. I'm willing to do a lot things for other persons, but not when I feel like I have to or I'm taken advantage of. I just hope, those young girls can mature, start to treat themselves better and find the right partners for life. Sorry for such a long rant.

Sex and Music have gone together forever. But there is something very different about what Miley is doing. Madonna, Adam, Robert Plant, Jim Morrison, many many performers before them, integrated sexual expression with their performance. Miley just took off her clothes and sticks out her tongue and licks things. There is no context for this except to be an exhibitionist and attract attention. Makes me sad, because it works. THIS! I admit, I often think about Adam and his way of behavior at his performances. But I think his behavior, performances nad everything he does on stage (especially there) are so different from what we can see Miley doing - because I think Adam behaves on stage different than in the RL - he is an amazing performer and entertainer and his performances and videos /unlike Mileys/ make perfect sense to me and show how talented, great and amazing he is - maybe I'm biased, but this is how I see it. (And I don't follow Robert Plant and Jim Morrison, so I don't know about them, but I see Madonna in a similar way as Adam - though I'm not such a big fan of her as I'm of Adam )

Forget Frankengump. I found a much better Adam photo. Ooops! Sorry about that highly sexualized photo. Ha! Wrong Adam too. So embarrassed. AND HE WAS NEVER CALLED A PROSTITUTE FOR DOING THIS PHOTO SHOOT!!! Wonder if this Adam even knows the sanskrit letters and what they mean. It is hardly a life of tapas! Tapas means austerities usually in the context of achieving a higher spiritual state. It is one of the three pillars of yoga philosophy. It is sad when these things are bandied about but in the context of the Miley discussion, not surprising.

I absolutely REFUSE to quote your post of the other Adam, Holst. Not even to get to 10 pages. Not even to get to 2 pages. One cannot un-see what has been seen. Why would you do that to me? I may be traumatized for weeks. I thought we were friends. Friends don't make friends gag and throw up in their mouths a little. Ewwwwwwwwwwww. There! We are still not quite even, but hopefully you now understand how shocking and upsetting some images can be. Okay, that photo is completely unfair and nasty!!! My heart skipped a beat. Actually, I had a really bad accident with my violin a couple years ago. If you imagine that big chunk not broken off, mine would have looked similar. I was just trying to find the photos that my violin restorer took, but I can't find them. When the accident happened, I was sick to my stomach, sobbing, hyperventilating, and cursing, all at the same time.

Right? I was in no way disparaging stay at home Moms, I was one myself for the 1st 7 years of my daughter's life and it was the hardest job I've ever had. I just meant the mentality of sticking to the traditional roles of men and women. However, I see your point and it is good that we have that choice. Also, I guess at my age, I grew up with men who were raised with strict roles for men and women and I totally bucked that so may be it is just personal for me.
