Keep playing and hope the singer sorts it out... all you can do really Yup. Sometimes a keyboardist or guitarist can pound out the melody line to clue the singer in, but, in the case with Adam, the problem isusually that he cannot cannot hear his own voice. If he could he would auto correct himself. The band cannot shift keys because the singer is not necessarily singing in ANOTHER key. They might be singing between keys. And multiple musicians would not be coordinated to all shift to the same alternative key, even if they could quickly recognize it. As a singer, there really is not much worse than not being able to either hear the accompanying music or hear your own voice. It is like firing a gun blindfolded and hoping you hit the target. I am completely ignorant about these things, but am wondering why would a singer not be able to hear his own voice?

Speaking of the band, sometimes growth is painful - and maybe sometimes ability should HeWhoCannot amed looks, and new loyalties can grow with new band members. I hope someone very wise is mentoring/advising Adam careerwise. His show shouldn't sound amateurish as he progresses to these higher level concerts, IMO.

I am completely ignorant about these things, but am wondering why would a singer not be able to hear his own voice? Good question. You would think you could always hear your own voice. But, in concert, rock bands are SOOOOO loud they mask out the sound of the singer's own voice. Have you ever been to a concert and sung along but not been able to hear your own voice? It happened to me in the balcony at Adam's concert. Have you ever tried to take a picture in bright sunlight and you couldn't see the image on the screen? The camera was working fine, but the sunlight overpowered the weak light of the screen. Same idea. It's one of the main reason for in-ear monitors. To feed his voice into his ears while dialing back the instruments. Getting the right balance is very tricky.

Becoming a bad fan...had to admit...I listened to the stream and the next day....looked a few vids. And I mean a few...like three. Where the heck was my energy? (I do not think it is lost...I have replayed MTN so many times .... ridiculous. Glee ...has me excited for the Adam parts.) I emailed an Atoper and said... glad I did not go to Miami or New Years. I am sure I would have enjoyed it live. But I did not see this as "professional a show" as it had the potential to be. This is not tour time like GNT where it is a "choreographed" and you know it will be the same, but thoughtfully done. I hope the next two concerts have some life breathed into them for those who are going. Not that he "has to" change things up for the repeat concert goers, but it does create "buzz", and maybe for the band to keep fresh and energized. Nothing like learning a new song(s) to keep one excited to play. It seemed to me, this show was the easiest path. Time for album 3 or some new additions, to get me more excited about "music again". Maybe I best go back to bed and so I can wake up more cheery. I got a phone call at 7 am from hubby to remind me how to put the Jeep in 4 wheel drive. The blizzard has caused drifting and we only have one lane of traffic going in and out of our community! And I volunteered to take my neice's puppy in for grooming today. The sound was off and the backing track too loud in a few songs, but no energy?! Really? Looked to me like Adam stopped just short of swinging on those disco balls. To me, his energy looked incredible and very playful!! There was so much energy in that room it could have powered Miami. It was the most energized Adam concert I have ever been too. I was surrounded by people, mostly gay men and young women who were dancing the whole time. The best thing about it was that it was an intimate "private" concert. No it was not like a choreographed show. And with all due respect to the videographers, the videos I have seen of this concert are terrible. I was on the main dancefloor, about 18 people behind the stage and the sound was wonderful. And we had an amazing time. And met loads of great people. It was like we were at a party. If you are looking for Adam Lambert unleashed, this was the concert to be at. If you want Adam Lambert on tour with a choreographed show, then wait for the next tour. But this was not a concert in a theater -- it was in a danceclub, with an open bar and tons and tons of cute, young gay men. Personally, I love them both types of Adam shows but I will take this playful, happy Adam any day of the week. The band, on the other hand, was not well rehearsed and could not figure out what the fuck Adam was up to. Brian picked up on Adam's improv a bit at one point but mostly they were like a zombie band. Perhaps, I am spoiled by seeing Adam with Queen -- a tight band and with Brian May on lead guitar. ETA: And Adam did change up a lot of things for this concert -- seemly on the fly. Music Again and most of the songs with strong backing tapes worked well. The songs where the band was the primary music were not as good. The sound level of the backing tapes were good were I was -- both of the main videographers who have posted so far were recorded directly in front of speakers -- hence the f'ed up sound. This was one of those concerts where being up front was great for being near Adam but was not apparently the place to be for good audio.

With all the history Tommy and Adam have together, he was the recipient of the famous AMA kiss for heaven's sake, I imagine letting him go would be extremely difficult and maybe to difficult too be a real option for Adam.

Do you guys think this recent string of concerts is just about the holidays or do you think Adam may be gearing up for something else. You know, getting out and about, exercising his vocals, rehearsing his band, re-starting the machinery so to speak. I thought the last time the band was together after a string of concerts that they sounded really good together. I remember thinking "finally" they sound confident and well rehearsed. So, my thoughts (not based on any reality) (are they wishes then?)is that perhaps Adam's next album may be less over-produced; maybe he will be using his band to try and capture more of a "live" feel. Maybe there will be a series of once-a-month concerts to bring everyone back up to speed and then, perhaps, into the studio. I'm not ready to give up on this core group (well, maybe Rick) (sorry, Rick). I rarely notice the drumming in a band unless it is exceptional or bad. I always seem to notice Rick's drumming and not in a good way.
