I have watched/saved a gazillion youtubes from Hammersmith, but today I found this whole concert! Two hours, seventeen minutes!! Don't know what night it's from, tho. This is the video used in the London Day 3 DVD. There are several places to download the full higher quality HD version of this video and a ISO file from which you can very easily write it to DVD. |

Is my favorite carol and would love to hear Adam sing it. So often it gets butchered by being over or under sung... I love Christmas! I love Christmas carols. I hate Oh, Holy Night! For precisely the reason you state... it is usually terribly over sung. It is written that way. Very schmaltzy. However, IF Adam were to tackle it, I am confident he would sing it with nuance and subtlety, building to a strong, but meaningful climax. He is such a great song interpreter. Sadly, I don't see our unorthidox Jewish boy singing Christmas carols, especially one as religious as OHN. ITA. I believe someone asked Adam about this in an interview in 2009 and he was pretty clearly not interested in singing Christmas songs. I don't think that has changed. Since we are talking about Adam singing Christmas carols, can anyone point me to the recorded interview where the DJs are determined to have Adam sing lines from carols? Even after he tells them he is Jewish? They sing a line from a carol and ask Adam to sing the next line. Most of the time he has no idea. The interview was kinda creepy (that the DJs were pushing him in a direction he didn't want to go), kinda painful, kinda hilarious, and Adam was such a good sport.

Absolutely! btw, Netflix (if you have it available) has a great documentary on her. She is someone whose career I have followed forever -- always growing and changing and exploring new genres. She seems to excel at most experiments. I hope Adam gets the opportunity to branch off into different avenues too. |

I repeated the game to my husband and he did no better than Adam. And he was a little Lutheran altar boy! I doubt my boys know lyrics to Christmas carols either even though they have hung stockings and decorated a tree. So I am not convinced religion/ethnic heritage plays much of a role in it. eta: Is it possible to grow up in America and not hear xmas music? ad naseam. yes, i went to the mall today...... |

I was out so missed the first part of the Sound of Music, but what I have seen, CU is doing really well, for a live production. She is being compared to a film where takes are tweaked and repeated until perfect. If Adam were making this good a showing of himself in a full length production like this, we would be over the moon!! She is certainly stronger than Moyer...and her singing is good...she sings the part...that is what she is supposed to do...this is not the setting for histrionics and jaw dropping vocals...they would look completely out of place. A couple of those songs are difficult...she did not miss a note on 16 going on 17 and that is not a simple song.
I am no particular fan of hers but I think she deserves plenty of kudos'. That took a lot of intestinal fortitude...good for her.

OH! PLEASE OH PLEASE! MILES I LOVE YOU! I HAVE ALWAYS SAID I WOULD LOVE ADAM TO SING OH HOLY NIGHT!!! IT'S MY FAV CHRISTMAS SONG! TO HEAR HIS BEAUTIFUL VOICE SING THAT WOULD MAKE ME...WELL CRY MORE THAN I USUALLY DO WHEN I HEAR IT  HERE'S TO HOPING  Is my favorite carol and would love to hear Adam sing it.
