Adam has a real eye and ear for a performance, even from the tiny bit we have seen of him mentoring. And he does it without being harsh. Also Harry knows what the heck he is talking about, IMO. Keith much of the time, too. JLo? Wa, wa, wa, wa, wa.
As for the girls' voices, they all sound like big belters to me. I don't hear much subtlety or nuance. It's as if they are not even thinking about what they are singing and how to tell the story. Harry asked the girl what "Paint It Black" meant, and all she could say was "dark" and "I like it." She had no idea what it was about and it showed.
So far, no one has grabbed me. No one has even made me listen to the entire song. A couple of phrases, and that's enough. Best of luck to them, but without me this season.

I never thought I'd cheer JLo. I mean it's one song. If she sings about death, does she have to die first?? |

If you are referring to Harry, I think he was not judging the lyrics, he was questioning the appropriateness of the song (because of the lyrics) for a girl her age. Judges on AI have certainly done that before with the younger contestants. Of course, teenagers think they are way older than they are.  |
