Very strange, indeed. She takes all kinds of breaths between syllables of a single word. Again and again. It makes no sense stylistically or in terms of interpretation. Yet, she breaks the word "over" with a breath each time. That would seem to be intentional. It ruined the song for me. Eliminated the meaning of the words and phrases. I don't get it. Came back from watching the DVR recording of the Oscars (sans commercials) to complain about the same thing, but I see others have covered this. My enjoyment of music is ruined. I could barely handle Bono's vocals. Wife forced me to skip over the Frozen song. Could not enjoy P!nk's voice due to the breathing in strange places. Damn you, Mr. Lambert! You have spoiled our ears! It's Adam's fault - I cannot listen to that Frozen song - it hurts my ears because it sounds like she is in pain on the high notes. Didn't watch the Oscars so I have no idea about the rest - but Adam has spoiled us, IMO  |

What I do not understand is why Glee picks such old songs: 1967 The Happening 1977 Barracuda 1982 Gloria 1990 Hold On I think we will get a 6th Glee episode with Adam -- and that give Glee one more chance to give him a current song. Here's hoping. Q3, Weren't there some tweets with Shoshanna answering a fan the other day that indicated that Adam had a total of 5 Glee episodes? Or perhaps you are thinking that despite that, some day Glee will have him come back and give him a current song to sing. peace&love Shoshanna has never said anything about the number of Glee episodes except to say that it depend on the shooting schedule because Adam had other commitment. The "5" is a fan interpretation of Adam's comment from early November 2013 when he said he would be in a handful of episodes. That has been interpreted by some (not me) to be 5 because a hand has five fingers. I think it will be the standard Glee 6-epidode agreement just like Demi has and others have had in the past -- Adam episode #5 is 05x14 which will be broadcast on 4.1.14. It could be the last appearance of Elliot but I really think Adam will make time to do more Glee. |

Pink was strange tonight, I couldn't listen to Bono, that girl singing Frozen was srsly meh... even Bette Midler was sorta weird singing her classic song... I dunno what was going on!! ??? |

It is funny just how subjective music really is! I think Pink is a really good performer and even better songwriter but...especially tonight she was not a great singer...sorry. I know that seems like hallowed ground here but I don't get it...Lea, who seems to get little love here, could have done a much better job of that, as could even a couple other of the glee kids. That's a show tune and just as Lea shows poorly in the pop genre, so does Pink in this style...for me at any rate...
That said, I kind of liked Bono and U2! He has swag...haha. But I am odd I suspect...May as we'll go whole hog and admit I don't really get what is so awesome about Pharell!! Give me Sia any day...but she has less of the COOL factor..however that is determined!

Lol, mzsue, I feel the same way. Everyone sounds meh to me anymore.
I honestly feel like there are so few singers I like. I DO like Pink's voice, I remember seeing her on Letterman many years ago in a really dialed back acoustic number and I thought, "Wow! She has that? I had no idea." But that rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow that everyone was going nuts over? Huh. I don't get it.
And Bono leaping to his feet, along with everyone else, for the woman singing the Frozen song? Sounded nasally and shrieky to me--which practically seems like an impossibility.
And Pharrell? I pretend like he's really great b/c of Adam connection but just meh on him. Nice bouncy little number tonight, but it's just that. Nothing special.
I did like U2 but I've been a fan since they were a college band and I was in college.
I feel like I need to recuse myself from judging anyone's singing. Almost no one sounds good to me anymore--with one exception. And he is the first person I liked solely on his voice. All the great singers I don't hear it. Celine. Meh. Mariah. Meh. Xtina, yeah, I can tell she really has pipes, but meh on her too, lol. Most of the singers I like wouldn't at all be considered classically great vocalists. Still not a big pop music/Top 40 fan, so I always feel like I need to recuse myself from judging that. If I'm really honest, I don't like that many Adam *songs* but his voice just sends me. I don't care what he sings. It's gonna do that.
As for Glee doing old songs, not clear on why they are doing that. Maybe for $$ reasons. They are no longer a hot show and no longer have the deep pockets. In the first season when I watched, they were doing a lot of current songs. Then they would put out their version and it would be #1 on iTunes the next day. Never got that either. I would be, like, didn't this song just come out six months ago, with what WOULD be the definitive version with the original artist, and now Glee is giving it the autotune treatment and ppl are going nuts purchasing it? They were also doing a lot of mashups.
One thing that I do like abt Glee currently is that the voices less processed than they did before. I guess it's the post-Adele effect. And finally dubstep is officially dead, so they aren't doing that anymore either.
Ok, now that I've exposed myself as the resident curmudgeon who hates basically everything, I'll turn in for the night, lol.

I read that but took it as there are 5 produced Glee shows -- and we already knew that. My money remains on a 6th appearance on Glee this season. They are working on 5x15 and 5x 16 right now. So there are 2 more blocks of show to be filmed this season. 17-19 and 20-22 (or 20-21). And yes, I could be wrong. But the way they do Glee, the scripts for episodes 17-22 aren't written yet. Personally, I think 5 is a lot of Glee. So if 4-1-14 is the last Elliot show, OK by me. |

Shosh didn't confirm the number of appearances. "adamisalamb" continued the count with a tweet '2,1' which is left out from the above quote - and she replied 'correct' to that, not to the direct question.
Presented like above the convo gives an impression of 'a fact' which it was not. Of course interpretations and assumptions can be made but preferably based on the 'real' convo.
