Please don't waste your time. They will never accept Adam and we shouldn't care. I know some of them and they just want to upset you. We know Adam is talented and just kills Queen's songs! Their concert will be terrific. Funny thing one said Adam/Queen would never play in Madison Square Gardens or the Forum. Don't look now! THIS. Total secondhand embarassment seeing Adam fans basically trolling Queen boards. Eta: note to self, don't bring the haters' comments over here! No need to get one down. I am attending ONE concert and it will be great and I expect to see a bunch of old Queen fans enjoying themselves lol.

Here's my philosophy regarding the world's appreciation of Adam or lack thereof.
Adam is not for everyone. How could he possibly be universally praised? Look at all the different types of music there are. Different types of performers.
Adam has an exceptional voice in terms of technique, tone, resonance, power and range. If you like that sort of thing. Some don't care about it or for it. I don't like the traditional twangy country voice. No argument is going to change my response to it. I have to accept I am not gonna change the minds of those who do not like what I do about his voice.
Adam's choice of music styles and genres on his albums and in concert does not appeal to everyone. Some want it to be more rock. Some want it to be more ballads. Some want it to be more Broadway. Some want it to be more opera (yeah, that ain't ever gonna happen, sigh). If Adam is producing a style of music that folks don't care for and don't normally listen to, the fact that he has a phenomenal voice won't make them like it any better.
Adam's performance style is not for everyone. Some folks prefer laid back, just a little backing piano or guitar and pure voice. No bells and whistles, no strutting around a stage, no edgy costumes, no lasers, no production numbers, no bombast. Some want a raw and real rock band straight from the garage or the local dive. Those folks are not going to be interested in an Adam concert or a Queen concert. No matter how iconic the band or amazing the vocals.
There are folks who have been Queen fans for 40 years. They know every song, every phrase, every note, from every studio recording and every live performance captured on video. Queen songs and performances are tied to their own life events and journeys. Anyone coming in to sing lead and changing ANYTHING may be disturbing. There is no point in arguing whether Adam is as good as or better than Freddie vocally. There is no point in arguing that Brian and Roger love Adam and want to perform with him.
I have come to realize there is no point in trying to promote or defend Adam to those who have been exposed to him and just don't care for him. As Adam said, "Let them go buy the other guy's music." I am thrilled that Adam is touring with Queen, and the response has been largely enthusiastic. I am thrilled that I am going to see Adam live again after over three years. I am happy that Adam seems so happy with his life at this point. I enjoy interacting with other Adam fans and sharing our excitement and appreciation. All the rest? Doesn't matter. Don't care. There's plenty of music for everyone.

To some extend I do understand the Freddie loyalty -- I shocked myself when I realized that for me someone else singing for Jim Morrison of the Doors just wouldn't do it for me. I guess I'm a hypocrite!
eta: Cassie -- LOVE your post ^^^^^^^

I know scroll is my friend but I hope there won't be lots of posting here about what is being said about Queen withAdam Lambert on other boards. Honestly, if I wanted to know what they think I could go over to those boards and read it for myself. I am interested in what Atop members and the press think, not posters on other boards.

Cassie -- What you said!
BTW, I would love to go to multiple concerts, but I am currently going to grad school and working full-time, so I am pretty lucky to be able to go to one concert (Vancouver). For those who are going to one concert or 10, we are all the most fortunate folks, right? (Now if someone wants to give me a ticket to Las Vegas and pay my airfare...)

I have charts of some FYE stats and some WWFM stats- explain a bit more what you are looking for and I'll take a gander... Maybe we need to take this to PM's if it's OT?? Give me a few minutes to shoo my kid back into bed, and I'll PM you. Were you the one who did those spreadsheets with attendance, etc, if all the GNT concerts? ETA- I looked at those spreadsheets all the time. It was before my Adamtopia days. If that was your work, thanks for doing them!

I am puzzled by the comments about Queen fans being negative about Adam. They generally are not.
Sure there are some people who are Queen fans who do not like Adam or do not like the way he sings or do not think he is big enough to front Queen. But honestly, this is a very small percentage of Queen fans and seems to be most common on one unofficial Queen forum that really is a Freddie forum.
Just like on the Adam forums and fansites, mostly there are posts on the Queen boards about buying tickets and sharing party limos to concerts and so on.
BTW -- why don't Adam fans have these party limos?

I did laugh when you mentioned concert binges - pretty great description! And if I could, I would! I can only get to one, but it's their last one, so am hoping for a celebration resembling Nokia GNT. And hoping it's not 90 degrees and raining...

Cassie,
Thank you so much for that beautiful post re trying to convince others about Adam, or trying to refute the haters' negativity, etc. I can totally understand people's loyalty to Freddie and how n-o-t-h-I-n-g could possibly compare. I feel that way about Adam sometimes, too. Music is a big universe and there is room for everyone.
