I don't see anything in what Kris is quoted as saying in this link as being a put-down or negative comment about Adam. Although I think the article's writer is trying to put a negative spin on it. But everything Kris says is true and Adam would be the first to admit it. The AMA performance is much more like the Adam we have all seen in the Zodaic and other pre-Idol performance videos. And we have seen alot of the OTT sexual performances during the GNT. Idol has to tone things down for the family prime-time time slot. Thus we did not see all of the real Adam on Idol. I think the negative spin comes from the way other Idol's responded, like Allison and Matt. Kris' remarks are really neutral. I don't see anything negative, but I don't see any support there either. We also don't know what else Kris might have said that the article's writer did not put in print. Or if he even gave Kris a chance to say anything else that was positive rather than neutral. We all know how the press can twist things up to come out sounding the way they want. I don't know how Allison & Matt responded, so I can't comment on that. |

Just confused by the earlier comment about the comment, but won't add to it. I actually enjoy AI in general but I must say, it's a really weird show. Do you think Queen + AL might suddenly add new North American dates in a few weeks' time? Just curious, not saying they need to. |

I am so pleased that Adam was on GLEE. And I am also pleased that he is too busy to do any more show! Looks like will may get a song and a Kurt-Elliott scene in the next episode. Hope Elliott leave to be a superstar. (So life can imitate art!) Hope it's a Blaine-Elliott scene per what Darren hinted at. I think Darren Criss was pretty clear that he and Adam have a scene. But looks like we get a Kurt-Elliot scene too! Or maybe the same scene is Kurt, Blaine and Elliott. Because we clearly get a Kelliott hug. ** Can someone point me to the Adam-Glee blind gossip item? ** I really think that the AMA are just a footnote in Adam's bio now -- certainly not a highlight. But his response to the controversy, his standing up for his right as an artist to freely express himself, that is not just a footnote but a seminal part of who Adam is as an arts. And for that the AMAs response he made -- to question the gender double standard -- and Adam's strength of belief, that is important. I will PM you the right link. But let's not go back there. |

I see no harm in discussing old issues when the thread is 'slow'. I like reading history tidbits, for example there was the GNT discussion the other day which was nice, I didn't know any of those things.

A little correction: about the Glamberts trying to win the tickets, Mika who is currently #1 is not Atop's Mika (if I remember correctly, Atop's Mika is male). This Mika is Bani on Twitter and female. So the only Atopper in the first ten is Deanna.

Just wanted to say that the whole time when Kris Allen was on AI he was complimentary, gracious and kind towards Adam, and always recognized Adam's incredible talent. I am not a fan of Kris Allen and I was as devastated as so many others were when the winner was announced on the finale that night. Still basking in the performances of BETH and THE QUEEN songs, it was heartbreaking to hear the results of the voting. But I never blamed Kris for the upset. He looked more shocked than I was and he had nothing to do with whatever went on behind the scenes. And I will always remember that, at least from what was portrayed in interviews and various footage from the show, Kris always stood by Adam when personal questions were inferred about "lifestyle", especially when the AI tour was on its way across the country. The 2 men seemed to have a mutual friendship and respect for each other during the time when they were thrust into the post American Idol frenzy. I wish him well and imagine that Adam has only good thoughts for him and his family, as well. I am just reading the comments -- and wanted to respond to this. I assume it was inspired by the comments at the end of yesterday's thread -- including one made by me. Back in 2009 and 2010, in the heyday of Kradam, Kris was given the nickname OLFIP (our little friend in plaid) on the predecessor forum to Adamtopia -- Planet Fierce. It is a bit of an inside, snarky joke to many of the ATop members from that era -- including me. But is mostly used affectionately. ** I have never blamed Kris for beating Adam. I blame Adam fans for being too complacent and for not organizing properly. And Adam for not telling fans he needed their votes. ** Adam seems to usually look at the positive. But Kris' comments (11/2009) about Adam after the AMA performance were horrible IMO. And even Adam had to be hurt by them. Friends do not do stuff like that. If they were ever friends, and that comment makes me doubt it, then they certainly were not after that. [Note: It is not a one-off comment, it was just the grandest expression of things Kris had said in other places.] ** I think Adam deserves more credit for being so supportive of Kris' win -- from the beginning. He never once said anything negative about Kris or questioned the win. Not once. And think about what would have happened if Adam played the "gay card". It would have helped his career in the short term but hurt Idol -- a lot. As it is, I am an Adam fan because of his personal character, and because he is true to himself vs. only interested in maximizing success. That fact that he is gorgeous and the best singer I have ever heard live and love fashion and is constantly entertaining...also count. Finally, Idol was 5 years ago. It connect me and millions of fans to Adam. And I really only care about 1 Idol. Adam F. Lambert. I remember seeing the interview of Kris saying this. It came across like he was defending Adam. Kris is not very articulate. The last week of Idol was fun and fabulous. I would rather Adam lost to Kris than to have won against Gokey. I personally believe something was wrong with the phone lines during the Idol finale. I got 3 calls (votes) that were not busy using 2 phones for 4 hours. My personal opinion is that Adam overloaded the system. Adam's fans regularly crashed many sites that first year after Idol. Adam doesn't get enough credit for tamping down the AT&T scandal. The media was hungry for a story. Adam's fanbase was looking for someone to blame. One syllable of distrust in the results would have been all it took to become a full blown Idol scandal (no matter the truth). Here is Adam on the Today Show just after Idol. Kris didn't have the skills to explain what happened. No one would have believed there wasn't a scandal unless it came from Adam's pretty little mouth. |
