Well, a possible RS cover has to be Queen, right? That is the highest profile thing Adam has going on right now. My guess is a June Adam and Queen cover. I can read Shosh's tweets as pointing to a RS cover, or not. It could be a cover of something else. But sure seems to indicate some cover. ** Adam getting a second cover of Rolling Stone would be huge. Queen finally getting a RS cover would be more surprising. And if it happens, it would be related to their new-old music effort plus the tour. (Otherwise it just does not seem like a big enough story/news to me.) The May 22, 2014 issue theme is "Summer Entertainment" -- which will certainly include the tour, QAL getting the cover seems to be a stretch to me. The more likely cover for this issue is Katy Perry who kicks off in June for a mega tour. She got the summer issue cover in July 2011 (the Hershey kisses cover, hot seller). She also had a cover in August 2010 (the sex, God cover, also a hot seller). So it's been a while. But the biggest other summer tours are Lady Gaga (timing is right, will be massive gross, but yawn), George Straight (fastest seller but wrong genre), and One Directions (they do not kick off until August and wrong target audience) -- all do not seem likely. >> I am sure I forgot someone. They could also feature Coachella which is again setting ticket sales records. *** Queen has never been on the cover of Rolling Stone. Freddie has a Cover for Rolling Stone Spain Edition and appeared in the "where's Waldo?" celebrity crowd for the 1,000th issue.  Rolling Stone has never been very kind to Queen. Some of the album reviews from the 1970's were brutal. Queen never was very astute at PR particularly in the US. I believe the Queen + Adam Lambert coverage is the most positive RS coverage of Queen ever. They were beyond brutal about the Q+PR tour and albums so it is not because of heritage. I give much of the credit to Adam because RS' editorial staff does like Adam. Not only did he get a cover, Trespassing got 4 of 5 stars which is a top review for a pop album from RS. ** I hope that if there is something major about Adam in RS, and if he makes the cover again, it is for his new album. And it is just ADAM! |
