Can anyone tell me why LMD move up in Sweden? Is that Lipton commercial running there? ETA: Must be because the remix was released and sucks. So people bought the first version. (The LMD remix has no Nile funk and Adam is chipmunked. It is a "big room" edit for clubs.) I thought it might be the Max Martin-Adam press. Here's where it is now... Lay Me Down #94 Sweden #280 German #331 Egypt #396 Portugal Looks like something pushed it up a bit and it is now going to drop again. ?? ETA: Looking at the AVICII numbers on iTunes and they are fascinating. He is #1 in the world but not in the US -- Pharrell is #1 in the US, Shakira is on his heels. Same for radio -- AVICII is really strong in the US but not in the Top 10 Parrell is the current king. Surprisingly strong for an album that was released September 13, 2013. And Shakira's #1 iTunes album is predicted to sell 75K its first week. Based on the comments I found online -- LMD jumped up in Sweden and Germany because of the release of Avicii by Avicii -- which includes a terrible version of LDM -- no Nile and Chipmunk Adam. There are EDM sites that reviewed the album and mentioned this track specifically and critically -- looks like that is what cause the sales to go up. *** Shakira last two albums didn't sold much in the US. Her last album... Sale el Sol (2010) peaked at #7 in the US. World: 5,000,000 US: 271,000 Her best US performance was in 2001 with "Laundry Service" -- a monster album -- which charted #3 (pre-digital sales world, not-comparable to post-digital) World: 20,000,000 US: 3,526,000 Note: there are wiki numbers but I checked the sources. I am a The Voice fan and that has made me like Shakira -- but not an album I will buy.

Best quote ever!!
But if there ever was an heir apparent to the throne of Queen’s biggest queen, it’s Adam Lambert, the equally flamboyant singer with the pipes of an amped-up rock-n-roll angel. In tight, sexy leather pants.
In comparing Adam and Freddie, Freddie has many great qualities, but I would prefer to see Adam strut around the stage in a catsuit and short shorts. And Adam does leather very well.
Pretty sure we are going to get Adam is black for this tour. I loved his look in Vegas and that is fine with me. I think we will get some costume changes -- maybe 3 different looks? There are two logical breaks for a change in a Queen concerts -- the guitar solo and drum battle section, and Brian's tribute to Freddie (Love of My Life?)
Bet we also get a jacket, with jacket removal partway through the set -- like he did in Idols Live and GNT.
In any case, I hope we get both a fantastic outfit and black leather rock n' roll look.

Q3, I previewed about 1/2 of the new album tracks. Loved it! I will probably end up buying it. My first Shakira album!

If I remember correctly, I think he felt at the time that the East Coast was just too far away from his family and everyone he knew. Remember, he was just 19 when he left home to be on his own. LA is close enough to San Diego that Mom and Dad aren't going to check up on you, but close enough to go home if things go wrong. New York is VERY far away, particularly if you don't have much money or know anyone on that side of the country. That is a very good point, but haven't we heard that his Mother's family lives in New Jersey. Now I know to a New Yorker that is far away but... I think one point you made "he was just 19" is a tell. Had to be a scary time in his life with so many changes in his own and others perception of himself. It is less than a 100 miles between LA and Encinitas after all! I think another telling point is that youth is not such a premium on the live stage. Training and experience are far more important and age is not such an impediment...it is even valued, good heavens!! The pop world is actually a relative anomaly and the only genre to actually borderline fetishize youth!! To make it in pop he had to get a move on.

He was still happily doing stage work. It wasn't until later that he started to feel jaded. Just throwing out unvalidated guess, but I still think a lot of it was inertia and the fear that he didn't have a safety net elsewhere. Adam values friends and family (even in some interview he said he went to LA originally with a friend). I can see him being worried about going someplace completely new all by himself. By the time he was more seriously thinking about New York he was older (and I have no idea where I read this, but I'm pretty sure I read a New York answer like that in some interview a while back).
