Ok, I've listened to that song about 10 times now. It's so adorable, I love it. So pretty and so sweet to my ears.
(Sometimes fluff is OK!)

Just have to giggle a little at the conflation of this look: And that lovely light little sound of pop cotton candy. Where do the two come together? LOL.

How bizarre. I had no trouble at all recognizing Adam. Of course I remember people having trouble with FYE (song) thinking it was processed but I always felt it was just the way he was coloring his voice. I think he even said later in an interview that he was deliberately styling the vocal for FYE after Michael Jackson. As others have said I found this to be right in line with lighter songs like CTMBTM and "I Just Love You", just a light easy tone.
Me too.. I know right away it's Adam

....and now my 8 year old singing "ah, ah, ah I just wanna be a Rockstar". Makes a change from "do you want to build a snowman"?

Okay, I have to admit. I love it! It is pure bubble-gum pop, but it is so effervescent, and Adam's voice is so light and free and full of youthful enthusiasm. It's purely perfect. Can't wait to see the staging, and hear what is probably a better mix of vocals and instruments. Cassie, how high is his high note? As Adam once responded to a question about how high can he sing: "Pretty high." Actually it is a G#/Ab5. Not the highest he can sing, but still waaaay up there. At the top of a mezzo soprano's range high. And he nailed it. Yum.

I agree that Adam's extraordinary voice is even more apparent when he is trading lines with another singer. It's that 3D effect. Often I think that the "other guy"'s mic is not set correctly, needs to be dialed up, has to have more reverb or whatever added, or is not working right. But, since this is a studio recording, I cannot make that excuse. Nothing against Chris. Or any of the other folks Adam sings with. It just is what it is. Chris' voice is pleasant and pretty. (Limited in what he has shown he can do with it, but as someone said, he doesn't aspire to be a singer.) Adam's voice is a rare and precious gift (honed by obsessive training and practice for many years). And, Holst, I also agree that it is soooooooo nice to hear Adam use this simple, pure, gorgeous tone again. Ooooooooo. This was sooo apparent at the iHeart concert when Nate from .fun sang STL. I was initially jealous of the seven minutes it took from Adam, but in retrospect, it truly demonstrated how extraordinary Adam's voice really is. Something we fans already knew, but was a revelation to many in attendance there - TPTB in particular. Couldn't agree more and this deserves to be posted again from grandduchess' post yesterday:

Beats the MineCraft version: "Elsa? <knock><knock> Do you want to build a snowma... SPLAT!" ETA: Your kid will now giggle hysterically for the next two hours. You're welcome.
