Just watched Glee tonight here in NZ. It was Frenimies, very good episode overall, Adams acting is very good, some of his quips, traits etc. Come across as his natural personality, he jus. T seems so natural and casual in his acting. His performance of Darkness overall was awesome. The Rachel Santana storyline was really good too, overall great episode. Hope Adam returns because he really has revitalized Glee this seaaon, i noticed too scenes progressed much smoother when it was just NY, so good its moving their full time, it well be interesting too see how they write Elliot out, and if or how they leave the door open for him to return in S6.

TALON'S TAKE:
Spread Your Wings
Written by: John Deacon
Musicians:
Freddie Mercury - lead vocals, piano Brian May - guitars John Deacon - bass guitar, acoustic guitar Roger Taylor - drums
- Issued as a single in the UK (where it hit #34), Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands (where it hit #20), and Spain.
- Played live through 1979 and then surprisingly and unfortunately dropped -last played on December 26,1979.
- Freddie would often throw some innuendo out to the crowd introducing the song as Spread Your Legs.
- It was around the shooting of this video (and We Will Rock You) that the band parted ways with John Reid and went on to managing themselves (with help from Jim Beach). There was no acrimony and the band are still friends with Reid, they just felt that Elton John took too much time from John and that they could manage themselves at this point.
- Axl Rose has cited this as a song that meant a lot to him while growing up and helped inspire him to become a musician.
ALTERNATIVE RELEASED VESRIONS:
BBC SESSION #6 VERSION
- ESSENTIAL listening. - This version is similar to the original except it has an awesome rocking out upbeat ending where Roger goes into to double time and it is pure energy. I wish this was the released version and that they played it live like this all the time.
SINGLE EDIT
- NOT essential listening, just a different fade point.
DVD EDIT
- NOT essential listening, just a different fade point. - This IS the video though so that is interesting - yes it's from the same shoot as We Will Rock You which was a single in the US but not the UK while Spread Your Wings was the opposite - probably why they though they could get away with it...
UNRELEASED AND UNHEARD
TRENT REZNOR REMIX - Considering how interesting his other two mixes are, I'd be very interested to hear this one...
OFFICIALLY RELEASED LIVE VERSIONS:
LIVE KILLERS VERSIONS
- AUDIO only.
UNRELEASED LIVE VERSION
LIVE IN PARIS 1979
- I love this version - well done and one of the only videos of the song in existence.
PERSONAL NOTES: - A hard song to sing, as it stays up in the range, but fun. If I had to pick one this would be my favorite John Deacon tune. LOVE the uptempo bit.
Chances for QAL: SPREAD YOUR WINGS......20% - I don't think it likely. It is a John song, and they tend to shy away from any Deacon song that isn't Another One Bites The Dust and I Want To Break Free. However, it would fit Adam quite well and I think the band could do amazing things with it. So this is one I wouldn't be shocked but I wouldn't bet my life on it either...

Ok, I gonna fly blind here because I very uncharacterically am going to post without reading the threads for the last two days, but is that Adam singing in the snippet? Because if so, they have totally processed his voice to be as mediocre as the other members of the Glee cast. I was a big fan of Glee its first season, but as someone who was around for the original rendition of the songs from all the decades, I never really understood why the covers would sell so well--especially covers of songs that were just released a few months earlier (Rihanna's Umbrella, e.g.). And I always bristled at how processed the vocals were. I am apparently a dinosaur who prefers when someone sings into a microphone and the sound comes out unadulterated or when someone goes blam-blam-blam and the notes come right out on a guitar. Bizarre, I know. And Q3, what an eye-opener on your epic commentary on how music gets made these days (if you really want to know--I didn't but suspected and kudos to you for bringing it all into focus!) I am looking forward to Queen and Adam without nets and tracking tapes and I really am foreseeing a return to actual performance and emotion--warts and bad notes and all, like it used be. Prolly totally wrong about that though, lol, won't be the first time! I thought it was not Adam at first also. But I don't think it's because they have processed his voice. It's just his gentle tone without the rasp added--something we have not heard much of for a long time. Think musical theater--Come to Me, Bend to Me--tone quality. Also, I'll be pretty sure the whole song will not sound like other members of the Glee cast.
