Terra @alternaterra 27m I’ll make a mobi version soon for Kindle readers Terra @alternaterra 29m I’ll link the recaps to Adamwiki now that TWoP is about to be taken down so you can always get them here: www.adamwiki.org/wiki/American_Idol_Season_8 … Terra @alternaterra 35m I can make an improved PDF version later if people want that. The old one had some formatting issues Terra @alternaterra 36m All right, here’s my properly formatted ePub version of Jacob’s AI8 recaps goo.gl/wAmFmN I've opened a new thread in "Adam - The Idol Era" and copied my Adam excerpts from Jacob's Recaps. atop.proboards.com/thread/2277/2009-jacobs-recaps-twopYou can save extra stuff from the recaps there. I quoted this post in the 1st post of page 1.

Since a few people have now chimed in on the vocal processing for Glee/Adam, remember that Adam prefers "processing" especially when he sings live. He always insists on having quite a bit of reverb on his vocal mic for concerts--sometimes an annoying amount for me. He has sad that he wants this. That is an enhancement in my opinion. Good point. Yes, we almost never hear Adam's voice without some enhancement from the sound system (which is why I love those radio station appearances where he didn't use amplification). In my mind there is a difference between modifying the voice in order to achieve a certain sound, or to approximate the sound one would hear in a great concert hall (with natural reverb and harmonic resonance from the size, shape and materials in the hall), as opposed to modifying the voice to compensate for faults and weaknesses. It's probably a ridiculous distinction, but I believe in it. Adam's got the goods to sing with NO enhancements and sound gorgeous. If he works to get the sound mix the way he likes it best, it is like having Raja do his make-up to make him look his best. Behind the make-up, he is still gorgeous. No one is making a silk purse out of a sow's ear. (Your obscure idiom for the day, meaning glamming up something ugly to make it look pretty.) Adam is the real deal, not a manufactured product. It probably doesn't matter to most pop music listeners. It matters to me. I'm a throwback that way.

I admit that I didn't think the snippet sounded like Adam the first time I listened. My excuse was the sound on my ipad. After the second listen I fell completely in love with his voice. AGAIN! Off topic - I'm just getting caught up on yesterday's thread. I rarely revisit the Idol days. I can't say why exactly but I just don't. Reading through the thread I found I had a lump in my throat. It was wonderful and it was sad and maybe I don't want to relive that emotion. I don't know. Anyway - carry on.

I put "processing" in quotes in my original statement because I'm not sure what people are referring to. I also love those radio promos. Even though BTIKM isn't my favorite song, I much prefer it acoustic and his unadorned voice.

Just watched Glee tonight here in NZ. It was Frenimies, very good episode overall, Adams acting is very good, some of his quips, traits etc. Come across as his natural personality, he jus. T seems so natural and casual in his acting. His performance of Darkness overall was awesome. The Rachel Santana storyline was really good too, overall great episode. Hope Adam returns because he really has revitalized Glee this seaaon, i noticed too scenes progressed much smoother when it was just NY, so good its moving their full time, it well be interesting too see how they write Elliot out, and if or how they leave the door open for him to return in S6. It seems almost 100% certain that they will have Elliott leave in a way that they can bring him back. What is less certain is if Adam will make time to come back to GLEE. My money is on a reappearance in Season 6.

He always insists on having quite a bit of reverb on his vocal mic for concerts--sometimes an annoying amount for me. He has sad that he wants this. That is an enhancement in my opinion. Yes, he uses reverb but also is very particular about some of the other vocal effects. It seems like the majority of pop and many urban/hip hop artist are using a lot of vocal tracks and modifications for live live performances -- partly because it is the only way to do the songs live, partly because of the amount of dancing they have to do and because, in some cases (Kesha) they actually can't sing. Rihanna, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Britney, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Bruno and JT all are using primary vocal tracks to enhance or replace their live vocals. >> Live autotuning is what is annoying to me. Adam does not use autotuning live. Many, many top-tier artists now do. It is hard to tell who is having corrections made anymore because some artists only do it for really bad notes. There are many other current artist who "really sing" Pink and Matt Bellamy (MUSE) use reverb but I think that is it. Adam Levine (Maroon 5) sings live -- and pretty clean. Lorde sings live with just some basic mike effects -- echo, reverb, etc. I do not go to a lot of country concerts but Tim McGraw was really singing at iHeart Radio 2013. And was quite good.
