"A funny thing has happened, the price of an album has plummeted while the price of concert tickets has skyrocketed! This means that artists need to tour to make money – and it seems that everyone is on tour." Read more: www.adamtopia.com/thread/2352/18-14-adam-news-info#ixzz324Td16XBI really enjoyed this historical perspective on the music business because it puts things in perspective. The sky's not falling, it is just that the music business like life keeps changing and we all must adaptive and change or be left in the dust. After reading Q's comment on Philly being the Seattle of this Q + AL tour I went to the website to see which artist had tickets available at the Wells Fargo Center. I was surprised to find I could buy good seats for Katy Perry for both nights of her stop in August and seats for Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus and The Black Keys, and they are practically giving tickets away to Barry Gibbs' solo tour. Everyone comes to Philly but it is a working class town and these ticket prices (except for those 20 dollar lower level seats for BG) are high.

I am getting chills thinking of all of the new folks who will now have the chance to see Queen + AL this summer. It will be a shared memory for all of us to share for years to come.

I wish QAL were doing more pr in the midwest--and everywhere else, too. Just in the last month I've told my dog's vet and my doctor I'm seeing QAL June 19th in Chicago. Neither had any idea of this tour, and both are long-time Queen fans who were immediately interested, quizzing me about time and place. Many long-time fans who don't listen to the radio, or who aren't stans, have no idea this tour is happening, at least not in downstate Illinois. I suspect this is true for any non-radio listening fan who doesn't live in a city with billboards! Some effort should be made to tap into this market and maybe all the venues would be sold-out. Why isn't it on tv ads at least. Maybe young people don't watch tv anymore, but most people over 40 turn it on for the news anyway.
I guess this shouldn't bother me, but I know there are many others like these 2 doctors out there because every time I tell someone I'm going the response has always been they didn't know Queen was touring. And I mean every single person I've told--including family members who live near Chicago.
OTOH, my friend's brother who lives near St. Louis swears there's going to be a Queen concert there this summer because he's heard the promo on his radio. I don't know which station he listens to or what they're saying, but I'm pretty sure there's not going to be a secret concert in St. Louis this summer.

Yep, quite a lot of groceries... unless he's just stocking durable goods or having a 'going-away-to-tour' party. Queen tour is certainly worth of a tattoo memory - apparently he didn't want to use the Queen emblem but I wonder why the different type of crown?

I haven't much paid close attention to the tattoos. Where is the crowned "Q". I did a google search to save everyone the explanation, but got creeped out over the BIG and poorly done fan tattoos that also came up in the search.

I thought there were tv ads when the ticket sale started? The concerts have sold very well so maybe they (or Live Nation) don't feel the need to do more. First reviews might generate buzz and sell tickets to later dates but I agree that the first dates could use some promo. It's a pity if people miss their opportunity to see this act.
