Totally OT Just finished watching The Voice here on the west coast. If that little baby-faced buttoned-up unintelligible country sausage wins The Voice then there is NO HOPE left. None. And furthermore... those swaybots are fucking killing me. LOL utterly agree!!! Something else also interesting....there is something in the ether sphere that wants some Elvis covers....Jena Irene did an amazing cover of I Can't Help Falling in Love With You just a couple of weeks ago, and tonight Christine Grimmie covered it...and really well. I thought the song was rather tired but both girls did really good jobs...now I think I need to hear Adam do it justice...actually I would rather hear him do Lonely Street or Love me Tender. For the record, I think Jena did the better arrangement...just because she was more original...

As to how Adam's voice has improved since Idol, it is somewhat hard to tell from fan-made videos rather than professional recordings. I hear more richness in his low register. I also hear more roundness and fullness in his belting, particularly in the higher register. Earlier recordings sometimes were a bit piercing, and now have more of the lower harmonics as well as the higher ones. It is warmer. I think he has also further developed his "rock" and "pop" voices so that he doesn't sound as "musical theater" as some of the earlier recordings. He can still produce that "legitimate" sound, but can also sound less formal, if you know what I mean? His technique and control have always been exemplary. And he has always known how to wring emotions out of a song like no one else. I tell you a few nights (painfully) sitting through blind auditions for The Voice Oz and it gives you a whole new appreciation for just how good Adam is. Unsupported breath, wavery upper registers, flat, sharp, appalling song choices, hardly a decent male voice among them but lots of WGWG, and girl belters galore... its been the blind auditions from hell so far.

The Voice final tonight was interesting -- a very nice, authentic 18 year kid who sings traditional country music, a pop singer who thinks she is Celine Dione #2 but is not (she did Celine's version of Elvis' "Can't Help Falling In Love" tonight), and Josh Kaufman by far the best singer in the competition. The producers really did everything they could do (JMHO) to help Josh win but the iTunes ranking have Jake in the lead. It will be really criminal if Josh does not win. Josh has some big online support -- Kelly Clarkson and Justin Bieber.... Justin Bieber @justinbieber · 3h Vote #TeamUsher and @iamjoshkaufman - bit.ly/1o0sFmp and Call (855) VOICE-03 and Text 3 to 8642 pic.twitter.com/r7aJ0FbpES let's go! I hope he pulls this off!

Perry Como? You bet! Or Danny Kaye. My dad's name was Perry. Brother's name is Perry. Grandfather's middle name was Perry. So, I'm addicted to Perry! I honestly can't hear any difference in Adam's voice from Idol to now; except for a richer lower range. Can someone tell me what I'm missing? Breath control? Notes higher than those in Zodiac? A clearer voice than 'Come to Me Bend to Me'? I find myself preferring some of the 'first renditions' of many performances. I've been a vocalist all my life; and I understand the value in caring for the instrument in your throat. Adam is so aware of this. Without any knowledge of whether Adam still is receiving vocal instruction, I feel sure he is exercising and experimenting; but also caring for his voice. For a tenor or soprano, head voice is freeing; uninhibited and effortless. Keep that voice in chest or throat and you can feel the exertion and strain. You can hear it in Adele, and others. IMO, Julie Andrews ruined her instrument; abandoning her free, lyrical head voice for the straining throaty notes in 'Victor/Victoria". A head voice will fail when pushed in lower registers. Adam knows this. He feels his voice; he knows when to stop. The voice is all I care about. It is what captured me. I don't worry about A3. I don't worry about fame. Adam is beyond all who have come before. He will be the signpost, the lexicon, for all who will follow. I just know it. I believe it. There is nothing but joy! We should all be wearing cherry trees! Our celebration must be for this man, this sexy beast, who lives so honestly, so plainly - revealing himself to be nothing more than the rest of us. Have you ever seen such beauty? He explains it away; righty. He genuinely looks at you and me. We are so much more than we imagine ourselves to be. When I'm in Chicago, and he comes on the stage, once again I'll be ready to fly away. You see - he becomes so amazing in my mind, that when he walks and talks, and, oh Lord, sings - the mere mortal of him gives me wings and I am gone . . . Momtomany!Thank you for your BEAUTIFUL words I feel the same!
