Since today's countdown song is "Liar" I thought I would just add a postscript about one of my favorite performance of "Liar". It's a longest performance, pretty typical of the period. "Liar" Newcastle 1979. youtu.be/FOMeAu_1XHsThe band was pretty amazing at this concert -- a bit grittier than they sound in the 1980's, more to my preference. Brian's guitar solo on this is really loose. And everything works together. Freddie was awesome at this concert. He really captured the emotion of "Liar" that night.

I read this and did not connect it to what Roger said! So that is what they are up to! I knew this was not just about Adam's voice and total gorgeousness on stage.

The discussion of Freddie and Adam makes me reflect on the gift that we get to hear so many of the late Queen songs live -- WWTLF and TSMGO are at the top of the list. I found this beautifully produced TSMGO from Hammersmith July 12, 2012. youtu.be/BS72oW_qF5MIt has been there a long time, but I never watched it. *** It was a great performance and I was a few feet away from the stage that night. ** I could quibble and analyze it for a couple excessive vocal embellishments but that is the definition of insanity. It was a passionate and hugely impactful performance that made that song alive again. What more can we hope for? Well perhaps, that we will be lucky enough to witness one more song performed like that this summer.

I have always felt that Adam was channeling Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard for that performance of TSMGO. The melodrama is beautifully played.
