Pushing to page 2 - but it looks like we already got there.
Anyway, just wanted to see where Little Richard might fit in to the pantheon of early rock 'n roll pantheon of the '50s & early '60's - examples: "Tutti Frutti", "Good Golly Miss Molly". Back in the "dark ages" of the '50's, he wore eye makeup and was unapologetic as to who he was - a very early LGBT pioneer. And for those of us who were teens back in the 50's, we loved him. I didn't know he is LGBT. Back then did people know that about him? Little Richard was flamboyant and complicated and some kind of a pioneer. I think it might make more sense to call Little Richard a "Glam Pioneer" vs. an LGBT pioneer. But LGBT pioneer -- I do not think so......he was not gay but had a lot of gay sex and also a lot of sex with women, maybe he could be called bisexual -- until he became a very devote Evangelical Christian. After that he called himself "out and proud exgay" and said Jesus saved him.

Q3 I only knew Little Richard for his music and performance style. Thanks for the information about his life. I knew nothing about his life style growing up. Was there much press about it back then?

I saw Little Richard at a Motown Revue performance back in the early 60's. We all loved him but I really don't recall any mention of his sexuaity back then. He was so much fun on stage with his costumes, piano (he could really play that thing), and his original style of music! Maybe others remember something different. Blast from the past: (I always love me some Little Richard!)(0ops! Here it is!) Here's another video that shows his personality. You know, back then I don't think the LGBT issue ever came up. He was so flamboyant and so much fun and he had such an energetic spark to him, and we loved him for it. Thanks for the insight.

He released his first big hit "Tutti Fruitti" in November 1955. He became an an evangelical minster in October, 1957. He got married in 1959. So there was only a brief period when he was famous before he was "born again" -- less than 2 years. He continued his "fabulous" style throughout his career. Today, everyone would know. But in the late 50's things no one would cover this kind of private behavior. In retrospect it was reported and Little Richard talked about his early wild years in interviews. So there is little doubt it was true. This is not speculation.

i stood during the WAG WB concert & most of the 3 GNT concerts. But many others did not. I know Rock/Queen concerts are not the same thing, but I'm pretty sure there will be some non-hardcore people there who will not stand throughout the concert. And there will be people there who are not able to stand for two hours - I'm sure of it. :D I would much rather sit. Unlike many fans, I feel no impulse whatsoever to stand. I'm pretty sure I enjoy the concerts as much as others even when I'm sitting. I don't ever wave my arms in the air or dance either. But I'm internally happy. I feel ya. I stand reaaaallly still at some concerts and just gawk at the talent onstage.

I was just wondering how the press handled things back then since I really never payed much attention to the media when I was younger. I didn't have a clue about many things back then.lol

Very interesting time in America.
