What bothers me most about some critics is that they go to the show venue with their eyes and minds already firmly shut and their reviews already written, save for a few limply positive comments they toss in just so they can prove they actually did attend and they don't come off to readers as total jerks.
All I ask of a critic is that he or she goes in open minded, waits to pass judgment until AFTER the performance, and ACCURATELY describes the performers' skills and the audience's responses even if they conflict with his or her own prejudices. Judged on that basis, I guess Jim's review is not bad. But I still stand by my original point: it serves no one well to send someone to review a show if they're incapable of separating their own preconceived opinions (whether favorable or negative toward the artists) from the actual quality of the performance.

The best review for me comes from audience reaction -- even through the videos I can sense the building excitement in the arena. This seems to be a masterful production - can't wait to see for myself!
I too would LOVE to read a review from someone knowing vocal technique. Therein lies the wonderment of what Adam is actually doing during the performance.
I would love to pick up on the phrasing etc. that Cassie knows so much about. I'm glad to read that his technique is protecting his vocals.

Good morning. After last night's tweets from the critic guy I thought 'look out...here comes a really mean kind if concert review'! But that wasn't really what happened here. Sure he got his jabs in but we've heard all the 'not Freddie/not enough grit in his voice' stuff before. Since Adam, Brian, Roger, and the band put on a great show, performed together with a feeling of joy, love, and respect that was definitely felt and highly infectious with the audience by their loud cheering and clapping, this guy, to have any creditability in his reporting, had to acknowledge this Adam/Queen Tour is a success. People want to go to this concert...it was a SOLD OUT SAP ARENA FACT!! So his review doesn't really upset me and he has a right to his opinion. But, I whisper, he deserved the bug smashing treatment here during the concert for the wording of his tweets last night. OK...I'm moving on and going to look at all the vids I woke up to this morning that were posted. Thanks for all the Adam treasures! Everybody have a great day!

Not sure if these comments reference my post about the reviews:
but if they do, I want to apologize. I guess I came across os judgmental or as preachy, and it truly wasn't my intent.
I certainly could have been more clear that it was not about the posting of reviews, good or bad, or the posting of critical comments. It was solely about the back and forth that ensues afterward while a concert is going on, in the concert thread. And it was only my opinion.
So take all the accentuate the positive stuff as just my personal feelings and not as reflection on anyone, or a suggestion that anyone else is wrong. I will be more careful of my language now.
And if the comments were about something else entirely, chalk it up to non verbal communication paranoia, and I will still be more careful.

Don't worry redpanda, the relisacat and hoppers posts had nothing to do with you. You might notice from revlisacat's avi that she had a nickel counseling booth. She is, in reality getting counseling credentials, so the joke was she could just talk to herself.

Thanks, LindaG23. Always good for me to have a reminder that not everything is about me.

I'll be the one in Detroit holding up the "thighs baby thighs" signage. Can't decide though, I may be the one wearing the Burger King crown.....
