Want to mention that the merchandise being sold at these shows is incredible! The t-shirts people have piled up in their hands is crazy! Would not be surprised if the gross from merch is close to the gross from ticket sales! For real!!

As to melismas? That's just the fancy term for runs or riffs on a single syllable. Some of Adam's are pretty crazy difficult. When he was on Idol he admittedly added glory notes and riffs to stand out and get attention. He hasn't abandoned that practice completely. He does like to be the center of attention and to cause collective gasps. Because he CAN, while most others can't. To my musical ear, most of his riffs have an interpretive purpose. For me, WATC as originally written, falls flat on the last phrase. The song evokes such power and passion, and then delivers a very lackluster last few notes. Adam takes the ending of the song to church! Reminds me of an old time Southern gospel preacher stirring the congregation into choruses of "AMENs!" and "HALLELUJAH!s" His runs are the capital letters, bold face fonts and exclamation points to the statement "We are the champions of the world." Freddie did sing WATC with some fast runs (see below). Adam added two big, extravagant runs to WATC and the repeated section at the end to his live performance. (I like the repeated section, I can pass on the big runs which I realize many other people like.) JMHO -- when Freddie performed this his energy was focused on getting the entire audience to sing along and do the arm sway. He was not as much focused on the vocal performance. Adam performance has a bit more "I can do this cool stuff vocally in it" and less energy on the closing sing-along song leadership. Here is WATC from Wembley (1986)youtu.be/scU2mD7Apu0If you want runs and vocal flourishes in WATC, here is the champion! '39 comes right after Brian's LOML. After '39 is Roger's TATDOOL; then Neil's Bass Solo (incorporating Don't Try Suicide, Body Language & Staying Power); followed by Roger & Tiger's Drum Duel...awesome part of the show, and it gives Adam some time to rest up before returning to the stage for Under Pressure! I believe this is my first post on this site; I'm generally a "lurker," but I just had to jump in to give major kudos to "butterknife" for posting the MP3s for the concert! I am just blown away by the fact that I now have this entire show on audio for my listening pleasure...and Lordy, what a pleasure it is; especially having Love Kills!! Since the first moment I heard that song, it has been running non-stop in my head, even causing me to lose sleep!! It is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard Adam sing, and that's saying a lot because he's done a ton of gorgeous songs!! Butterknife, you have my total gratitude and respect for sharing this amazing man singing these amazing songs with all of us!! You rock! Tlcmom thank you for answering my question and glad you de-lurked and started posting!!

I'm fairly sure it's Rog's drum tech. He's there for anything Rog needs...Rog drops a drum stick...he picks it up or gives him a new one...if something comes loose, he's there to tighten it up.that kind of stuff... Yes, that is Roger's drum tech. Brian's guitar tech is on the side of the stage, stage right. Isn't his guitar tech stage left? Meaning on the left when you are standing onstage looking at the audience. The guy who hands him guitars comes from the right side of my YT videos. Right when looking at the stage is actually "stage left." If I remember my theater days correctly.

Last night I was in line behind 2 Queen fans that saw Queen & Paul Rogers 4 times including a special concert in Aruba. They had seen the concert on Saturday and were not impressed with Adam. The husband said that Adam "tried to hit the high notes like Freddie", but that he didn't succeed. Another Queen fan joined in and said that Adam tried too hard. The first 2 fans preferred the Paul Roger's collaboration. They think that this collaboration with Adam will be only for this tour and that Queen will find another vocalist to tour with in a few years.

So, they must not have disliked it tooooo much

Virgo, well whatever floats those guys' boats! Bridgeymah, is this the Voice guy? I couldn't find his WATC on youtube yet, but his If I Had You cover is, er...and I like seeing covers of Adam's songs. But I kept getting nervous as it seems like he's running out of breath on every line. Is he the Voice Au frontrunner or something? youtu.be/uRwOplSKiHQ
