What I noticed was Adam called AI "the f**king show". A departure from his usual way of talking about Idol. It is a departure. Adam has said many times that he's grateful for the boost Idol gave to his career. And I don't doubt that he sincerely appreciates how the show helped him. But maybe the "f**king show" comment reflects his frustration that even now, some critics and other segments of the public still cannot give him credit for all he has done since the Idol days. I'm sure he didn't expect to be forever defined by his Idol contestancy, or that some people would consider him unworthy of stardom just because he once did a stint on a reality show. It's kind of like if people still were still calling Queen a "bar band" today, despite their current legendary status and how far they've come since the days when they played for beer and change. It devalues and dismisses what they've achieved, just like dismissing Adam as an Idol also-ran tarnishes the growing success he has had since 2009. or may be he is using it as a term of endearment....

Or just an expression of emphasis. Adam is pretty free with his use of the f-word. I've heard him use it tons of times where he clearly wasn't trying to be negative. I wouldn't necessarily read anything into his use of it to describe American Idol.

It is so odd. I still want to hear Adam say he wanted to win Idol but I believe he finally said it and that makes me happy. Perhaps because I wanted him to win. Perhaps because we all know he deserved to win. Perhaps because if people could vote today .... in 2014....he would win. I just know it. Things have changed a lot in 5 years. ETA I see it as a full circle moment. Only someone very successful can say that. JMHO. Perhaps he said it because so many people now think he did! He didn't even correct the DJs in a recent interview! Yes, the south had a strangkehold on Idol winners or finalists. However, David Cook is not from Texas. He is from Kansas City, Missouri. I am pretty sure OK (Carrie's home) and MO do not qualify as south. Amd of course, AZ for Jordin. Other non southerner is Lee. So, 10 of 13 winners from the south! ETA: meant to mention that I do remember Neil's blog when he said Adam wanted to win. But as far as Adam saying it, this new interview is the first time!

He does throw the F word around and it seems like part of his regular vocabulary. So he may not have intended anything negative (even though a lot of people save the F word for times when they're upset).

to change the subject for a moment: When did Mohegan Sun Billboard numbers were reported? I see the spreadsheet was updated with some "suspicious" Billboard stats..."suspicious" because it is the same "6,991 out of 7,050; 99%" for both nights...really? they didn't sell out by the same exact number? Also, how is 51/7050 becomes 1% ? - OK, it is close... docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArGRM9JiTuXPdHppNjBDR1NxVDBQOFdGc3JNWG1FaXc&usp=sharing#gid=0I know I am nit-picking but somehow it looks annoying to me.... and I do know it IS considered "sold out" anyway... ETA: I also assume they agreed to play the smaller venues in LV, MS and AC because they were guaranteed a min of $1M or so/show, given that all these are casino venues....

Nica, BB reported the 2 nights together. They did not separate them. The person who does the spreadsheets just divided it by 2 to get two nights. Nothing suspicious! But the fact that last minute released crappy seats made them not be sold out is pretty crappy. But stiil, it was a 99% sold. Interesting that Lionel Richie's night, the 26th is Sold Out, but with less tickets than either of QAL nights! ???

Then it must've been the 2nd show that didn't sell a few tickets.... how many seats did they report for Lionel? Did he have a super-sized stage as well?

ETA: meant to mention that I do remember Neil's blog when he said Adam wanted to win. But as far as Adam saying it, this new interview is the first time! David Cook was born in Houston, last I checked, that was in Texas, which is what I wrote, he grew up in TX and MO, and at the time of idol, lived in Tulsa, OK. So I wrote TX. I could have written OK too, but does not make a hoot of a difference. While TX, OK and AZ are not traditional East of the Mississippi kind of south, they certainly are not northern, or anything else. Neither in culture, cuisine, language, religion, you name it. They are somewhere between cattle country and desert and TX and AZ are very much influenced by Mexico. However you want to define Texas and AZ, they are about as south in the US as you can go without crossing the border. They are very much in the south, and for this discussion, very much fly over country, very much conservative and religious, and everything else that was discussed. The only season that was not won by a southerner is season 9. Sorry, I have no idea where you are coming from with this. Btw, I have spent more time than I care to admit in Tulsa, OK. Believe me, it is southern. Not dixieland southern, or low-country southern, but very much southern nevertheless. Very friendly, very family and church oriented, very traditional and religious, politically conservative, and for the most part rather racially segregated and pretty much anti-gay, at least in 2009. TX and AZ states are going through major changes, due to immigration, migration from the north to the south, and a next generation that does not fully follow the values from the previous one. But for the discussion here, and for Adam's situation, I think the points that were made are valid. I am not saying that the anti-gay vote did not matter at all, I am just saying that voter support from the south tends to be such a strong element in this competition, that it is hard to make a case, on why it should not have decided season 8 as well. Either way, the decision has nothing to do with music or vocals, which is the point that many are making. This show is not won by the best singer, never has been, never will. Sometimes the best singer also happens to be from the south, and fall into the preferred demographic, and then it comes out alright. If you are female, non-south, black/Asian/Hispanic, or gay you have one or many strikes against you, as did Adam and a few others (Haley R., Kathrine McPhee, LaToya, JHudson, Tamaya Gray, Pia Toscana, Allison I., etc). The list goes on and on and on, of people who could sing, but did not fit the preferred demographic.

But, Aleks, now I want to see that video too! I keep missing things!! Oh, I'm so sorry! I thought that people who wanted to see it would go to Youtube, sorry. Here it is: I have to say, as much as I love his Queen collaboration, I miss solo Adam. He's creating his own stuff! He is just so unique and funny and an incredible vocalist. I watch this video and I think he's creating his own path. OM, this is just a wonderful, nerve wracking journey. It's so crazy how much I want for him.
