Adam tells us that he wants to win Idol in this Top 3 Idol Confessional.
That was before the final. After he didn't win, I think he always said he wanted to get to the Final.
I certainly could have missed a comment. But he was so supportive of Idol, Kris winning, and really did a lot to calm down fans who were very upset and skeptical. It was a very savvy and very classy response.

How about that first GNT show when he noticed the fake shirt sleeves of his costume had come out of the sleeve holes? The look on his face as he held out his arms and pulled a face was priceless!

Guys, I really don't understand why, 5 years after the fact and with all that has happened since, people are still stressing about whether or not Adam wanted to win Idol. Why does this matter now? Why aren't we looking forward to what's ahead for him?
It just seems kind of late to be discussing Adam's motivations behind auditioning for Idol. But why wouldn't he have wanted to win once he realized that he had a strong chance of taking the prize (even though as things have turned out, it didn't matter that he took second place)? I doubt that today he regrets coming in as runner-up.
I'll never forget that Idol introduced me to Adam, and will be forever grateful for that. But that's past history, and time to move ahead.

This is the first time I've realized that the sleeves were fake! I thought he had ripped his shirt somehow. The funny thing, I've wondered how that could have happened; just never thought of them being fake in the first place.

What I noticed was Adam called AI "the f**king show". A departure from his usual way of talking about Idol.
It is a departure. Adam has said many times that he's grateful for the boost Idol gave to his career. And I don't doubt that he sincerely appreciates how the show helped him.
But maybe the "f**king show" comment reflects his frustration that even now, some critics and other segments of the public still cannot give him credit for all he has done since the Idol days. I'm sure he didn't expect to be forever defined by his Idol contestancy, or that some people would consider him unworthy of stardom just because he once did a stint on a reality show.
It's kind of like if people still were still calling Queen a "bar band" today, despite their current legendary status and how far they've come since the days when they played for beer and change. It devalues and dismisses what they've achieved, just like dismissing Adam as an Idol also-ran tarnishes the growing success he has had since 2009.

Didn't Simon Cowell ask Adam on the show about winning, either after a performance or on the results show? I can't remember the exact wording. It was along the lines of saying he thought Adam was one of the only contestants trying to win it, in the form of a question. And Adam said yes.
