A little off-topic, but I have been watching the new television show from Amazon called "Transparent" about an older man transitioning to become a woman. The show stars Jeffrey Tambor, and it is truly excellent and thought-provoking. All the actors are great and it shows the complicated nature of family dynamics amidst change. Worth watching -- and here is the Adam connection: in the opening credits there is a young man performing at a family event like a wedding, and he really reminds me of Adam (when you watch, you will definitely know who I am talking about). www.amazon.comI knew Jeffrey Tambour before he became famous, as he used to work-out at the same gym I did on many occasions, Bally's in Studio City, CA. A the time Nautilus Aerobic Plus) I used to flit between downtown LA, Glendale and Pasadena. The manner in which he speaks and his personal nuances are his and he lends them to his roles. He has become quite successful in his own right. I was always fascinated by him, as I love people that are quirky and nuance every word or movement. He has those qualities tenfold. Another person like that is Vincent D'Onofrio of Law and Order: Criminal Intent. We used to have fascinating conversations as we did our workouts on the elliptical machines side by side.
He lends credence to his roles, and I have to admit this one is powerful. He always seemed to have a script in his hand, which he studied while doing his workout. He seemed to welcome the conversations. But that was at least 15-20 years ago. He since then has had many roles that have brought him onto people's radar, and he has become an accomplished actor. I would consider him a strong character actor.
How does this relate to Adam.... I dunno. Just an interesting tidbit on a slow day. I agree the performer somewhat is a reminder of Adam.

smokeyvera -- Thanks for your remembrances! I think this show also has resonance because without trailblazers such as Adam who are willing to be themselves no matter what, we wouldn't be seeing shows like this on major platforms such as Amazon. I believe he has been a transformational character during the past few years and his acceptance (and balls of steel) marks a greater acceptance of non-binary views of sexuality. I have always been accepting of all forms of sexuality, but it is nice to see that diversity begin to be acknowledged and celebrated on a more general basis.

OT but Time Warner really sucks. If I had another option I would drop them. Internet and cable are down right now and I get angry because my stinking bill is $215/month. It's ridiculous.

Adam content: I am OBSESSED with I Was Born To Love You. OBSESSED, I tell you. I want to marry it and make little IWBTLY babies. I want to wear it. I want to write a thesis on it. Live in it, swim in it. Wear it like perfume. I'm surprised my neighbors haven't complained. I'm a goner. He better never ever sing that song in that black and white outfit, I am pretty sure I would explode. You might enjoy this review of Transparent from the New Yorker. Scroll down, it is after the happy Valley review. Oops, sorry, link doesn't work. Damn snooty magazine. If interested you can go to the New Yorker site and type Transparent in the search box and view it there. Anyway, good review, I want to check the show out. Always happy for the desensitizing effect of exposure.

Here is a link for Bama and all those concerned about January weather in London. FYI--the weather is very similar to Washington, DC, my one-time home. London is north, but it's not Finland weather. Average Jan temp is in the 40s F. www.holiday-weather.com/london/averages/januaryThank you. For me personally, I don't mind the cold. I grew up with it. I have lived in LA for 6 years but lived in Cleveland (GO CAVS!) for 34 years before that. Talk about crappy winters, LOL. I went the wrong way!! I moved from Malibu to Cleveland -- in 1999! (And returned again to NE Ohio 4 years ago.) Yes, we get a "bit" of snow but looking out over the endless trees of the Cuyahoga National Park on a gorgeous late September evening if is so hard to even imagine Winter is coming. **** Seriously, if you are thinking about going to London for Q+AL do not let the weather deter you. As long as you dress for the weather it is a great time to visit -- and it is warmer and nicer than NYC in January. I used to go to London regularly on business and January-February were always nice because there are fewer tourists, and it is easier to get into shows, clubs, restaurants, etc.

Gosh he is just dreamy. It is always such a bonus for me to remember that he can sing too! But it was the the Red House outfit that is at the top of my list that I was mentioning.
