First of all, thanks to members who are welcoming me. I have a confession to make......I was posting earlier from my iphone and accidentally made a new account when I thought I was signing into my old one. I am really Andi4sure and not a new member. It is a sign of a wonderful group here that you take the time to welcome new ones. This is a warm and congenial forum! I am embarrassed about the mistake but will have to figure out how to delete one of my accounts. In my earlier post, I wrote what I remembered about the difficulty of artists like Adam getting any kind of radio play on the BBC stations, 1 and 2; I mentioned that they don't allot lots of space for non-British artists, and that also the new single the artist drops there MUST sell a large amount the first week to warrant consideration to be added to the playlist. It just doesn't work like it does here in the states. How was an artist supposed to sell lots of singles the first week if no one knows who he is? I don't mean to imply that Adam must break out there to sell here in the states, either. But if his music were to become popular in the UK, his popularity would increase beyond what it is now in Europe, etc., which would be a huge advantage for him. I just don't want people to get all disappointed when after all of this Queen exposure, Adam may still have difficulty getting his music played on BBC radio. It could happen, though, just saying.... Adam being well known and liked definitely helps his cause. I agree with you both, Q3 and mys*&@^#r50, that this NYE gig is a great way for Adam to become more well known there. He needs that. The enormity of what Adam is doing can be easily overlooked by those who don't know him or who are not Queen fans. If the majority of the UK public(and Queen fans) were to warmly accept him as a suitable singer for Queen, that is HUGE. A really gigantic feat. As far as Adam having "broken" already here in the states, that is true. But how many people here know and or remember him from five years ago? He was back in the public spotlight for the Queen tour. But when I say "Adam Lambert" to many people, they still respond, "Oh, that guy from The Voice!" I'm sick of that!(Nothing against Adam Levine, whose voice to me resembles a cat in heat)However, with the new management, label, and Adam's hard work, I believe Adam's chances to be a bigger presence on the music scene is much higher now. Q3, you mentioned earlier about the clever label who signed him being very patient. Agreed....I have heard people say that in the music business, timing is everything! Even though I may sound cautious, I am really optimistic and excited for Adam's opportunities! I am so damned proud to be an Adam Lambert fan! It's coming on to 6 years, and I agree that a lot of people don't know anything about him since the AI year. For younger audiences, 6 years is a major portion of their lives--ages ago.

Just saw something that made me realize, yet again, how extraordinary Adam is. On The Voice, Blake Shelton was criticizing one of the contestants for not putting enough heart and emotion into a song the contestant has performed many times (the Eagles' "Take It Easy"). Blake emphasized that to succeed, a singer needs to find something new and fresh even in old familiar songs, every time. He stated that a fan might attend a show just to hear that one song, and will go home sorely disappointed if the singer performs it halfheartedly. Adam never, EVER, performs anything with less than a full heart and his best effort, and without fail, he never performs a song the same way twice. He always finds some new notes, new phrasing, new expression, etc. to enhance it and delight himself and us fans. And he accomplishes this instinctively, with so little effort! This reflects the depth of what singing means to him and how deeply he cares about making his fans happy. How can anyone not love this man? I had the same thought when Blake said that -- I thought of Adam immediately. I also thought it would be interesting to hear what Adam would do with a Journey song. Very few people can come close to Steve Perry but Adam can. (There are a mediocre Journey cover on The Voice tonight.) I just saw it and he was mediocre. Better than he's been doing, but mediocre. Adam would be fantastic doing a Journey song. My choice: Separate Ways, probably my favorite song of theirs.
