Adam would not need all these backup singers like Nick Jonas does on the Voice right now. Just saying. If Adam had been on The Voice tonight, I would not have a headache from the awful singing! Not a great night. My dream reality TV singing competition would be having Power Ballad Adam, Emo Adam, Rock Adam, Camp Adam, Glam Adam, Dancey Adam and Sexbomb Adam compete against each other! ETA: And also Elvian Adam.

Hollywood Reporter @thr Adam Lambert Makes New Year's Plans, Cameo in Latest 'American Idol' Commercial thr.cm/U54gQq
Adam Lambert will kick off 2015 in a big way. The American Idol season-eight runner-up will join Queen in London for an exclusive concert airing live on BBC One.
The intimate show will take place at Central Hall Westminster (capacity: 2,000) near the iconic Big Ben clock-tower and serve as a sort-of warm-up act to a fireworks display along the river Thames at midnight.
"Words can't describe how excited I am," said Lambert in a release announcing the concert. "We are going to kick off 2015 in style."
Queen drummer Roger Taylor promised fans "a great night," adding, "I never imagined we would be around to usher in the year of 2015. What a thrill!"
The performance will be live-streamed, although it's still unclear whether fans in the U.S. will be able to access the webcast. BBC Radio One hosts Greg James and Gemma Cairney serve as hosts and tickets go on sale Dec. 2.
The news of the concert comes on the heels of the band's recent appearance on The X Factor, where they performed a soaring version of "Somebody To Love."
Lambert will return to his Idol roots this season as a judge called up to substitute for Keith Urban, who was mourning the loss of his father-in-law over the summer.
Idol released a sneak peek of the new season, which highlights Harry Connick Jr.'s audition antics and offers a glance at Lambert on the judging panel.

Adam performing STL brought back fond memories of Freddie's tribute concert. Always a crowd-pleasing song. A great choice for XFactor. Interesting. This performance is the basis for all those claims that George Michael was a better choice for frontman than Adam, right? He does a good job, to be sure, but, he is no Adam Lambert. On the plus side, George sings with strength and confidence. He is spot on pitch-wise. He has a lot of energy and moves on stage well. He has a good voice. Adam's voice is richer, fuller, has more ring and resonance. I can really hear a difference in the long, sustained notes that Adam sings, with added vibrato at the end of the notes. Adam has a more versatile range with the ability to sing the highest notes in full voice or in that ringing head voice, where George uses a light falsetto. George sounds more pop-y, whereas Adam sounds more music theater/light opera. For the X Factor, Adam cut out most of the humor and camp. Still, he concentrates on the lyrics. This is something I notice and appreciate with Adam more and more. He does all kinds of things that add emotion and interpretation to a song, so that even singing the same melody on two different verses, the feeling and delivery are different because of different lyrics. "Each morning I get up, I die a little," is sung very differently than "Got no feel, I got no rhythm." He tells the story with his voice, his phrasing, his articulation, and his face and body; something most pop singers don't do. It's that musical theater training where a song's lyrics tell a story, develop a character and advance a plot. Then, of course, there are Adam's glory notes. He is second to none when it comes to them, and he knows how to milk them to provoke awe in his audience. He's got that $47-million-dollar-insured Ferrari of a voice, and he knows it and uses it. The result may not be to everyone's liking. That voice IS theatrical. That presentation and interpretation ARE theatrical. Just my cup of tea.

Just saw something that made me realize, yet again, how extraordinary Adam is. On The Voice, Blake Shelton was criticizing one of the contestants for not putting enough heart and emotion into a song the contestant has performed many times (the Eagles' "Take It Easy"). Blake emphasized that to succeed, a singer needs to find something new and fresh even in old familiar songs, every time. He stated that a fan might attend a show just to hear that one song, and will go home sorely disappointed if the singer performs it halfheartedly. Adam never, EVER, performs anything with less than a full heart and his best effort, and without fail, he never performs a song the same way twice. He always finds some new notes, new phrasing, new expression, etc. to enhance it and delight himself and us fans. And he accomplishes this instinctively, with so little effort! This reflects the depth of what singing means to him and how deeply he cares about making his fans happy. How can anyone not love this man? I had the same thought when Blake said that -- I thought of Adam immediately. I also thought it would be interesting to hear what Adam would do with a Journey song. Very few people can come close to Steve Perry but Adam can. (There are a mediocre Journey cover on The Voice tonight.) I've also been wishing to hear Adam cover a Journey song. My pick would be Faithfully.
