I think there's also a very human tendency that when people push us hard, we tend to push back, reflexively. So pity those who are so deaf they cannot hear, or something like that. Maybe they'll come around in their own time.
And to be fair....musical tastes are incredibly individual. I like Katy Perry as a human, but her voice always seem to teeter sharp to my ears and it makes me want to stab myself. Millions of others adore everything she sings. So...

As for my brother, I shouldn't expect anything less. He's my dad through and through and he was one of the most stubborn people I have ever known. I think in all the time he was alive he would never eat Mexican, Chinese or any other food that didn't involve meat & potatoes, other than German food that our family friends sold at a carnival stand, LOL. He wouldn't even try TexMex. That used to frustrate me to no end! My bro did watch Idol back in the day but I'm almost afraid to ask what he thought of Adam back then.

(including KP ) I find it very hard to listen to something I am not sure about for more than 30 secs even if I talk myself into giving it a try. For instance I could never get thru a full song by Adele, despite all the hoopla around her... I am sure it's my loss... same with the darling of the moment - Sam Smith... Katy Perry is fun to watch but impossible for me to listen to... but Gaga is Ok for my ears... it's all a mystery...

LOL. This must be "The London Collection". We've had a pic with this backdrop before I think...the little mirrors....I believe with Sauli when Adam was in London before.

I've been loving everybody's comments for the past few days, but I'm such a deep lurker that I didn't post anything. Still, the fact that they chose Somebody to Love for the X factor performance - which is, along with TSMGO, my favourite QAL collaboration - meant that I would again plunge into reviewing videos from the NA tour. Joyous, joyous place! And, even though I liked the Xfactor version, one of my top 2 has got to be this rendition: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zluRcrAp5cQDo you remember those jaw-dropping moments from Toronto? Loooooooooooooord, ain't it fabulous? I'm stunned and thrilled every time, and I must have seen it a hundred times. Sending you lots of love! OK, going back to lurking, hehe This is one of the best STL - I sorta feel like we should be sending this out on the twitter verse to all our UK friends. I mean, if they thought Adam was great on XFactor, they should hear this version! Don't have time to look, but in the last day or so there was a site posting the X Factor performance, asking if this was Adam's best performance ever. A couple responses said not really - so many others. But it would be a perfect opportunity to post this one for "comparison."

I am making an early New Year's resolution. I am not going to stress about, read about, or argue with those who don't want Adam fronting Queen, or worse, don't like Adam at all. As unbelievable as it seems, there are people I am unable to enlighten, and folks who don't appreciate my brilliance and musical acumen. There are even evil, deranged, black souls who relish attacking all that is light and good, and spewing hatred. Even armed with my light saber and using the force, I cannot defeat them all. The fact is Queen with Adam just sold out a North American and Asian arena tour. They are getting all kinds of great press about their European tour and NYE performance. The reviews are mostly ravingly positive, and Adam is being touted more and more as the vocalist of his generation. He has well over 2 million twitter followers. He is on the cusp of releasing a third album. Bottom line: there are plenty of wise and discerning people who love and appreciate Adam. He is getting recognition beyond his wildest dreams when he was eighteen, and just wanted to be on some stage, somewhere, in some part, in order to be happy. His mother is never going to send him another gift card from Trader Joe's so he won't go hungry. And I will be able to see and hear Adam's brilliance for years to come. My resolution: FOCUS ON THE MANY POSITIVES WITH ADAM. ENJOY! I really like your resolution. I have never tried to convert anyone to appreciating Adam. I have brought many people to Adam and Q+AL concerts because I wanted to go with them to a concert. A few have become fans. A few are not fans but are aware and interested in Adam. But for most it was just another good concert. *** I also am committed to focusing on the positives about Adam. *** For every "he's not Freddie because.....(he bleats like a goat, is too feminine, conveys no emotion, has no charisma, is the Dark Lord Screamova, etc.)" comment, there are probably 100 positive comments about Adam. And for many fans who loved Freddie, they can both think the highlight of the show is Freddie on video and still think highly of Adam. Love changes perceptions and can even make a 2D video with recorded sound connect in a deep way that cannot be replicated by any singer who you do not have the same emotion bond with. But there are so many, many positive comments from fans and even from reviewers. Here are a few of my favs... "Adam Lambert, who's front-manning on the tour that kicked off last night at the United Center, is no Freddie Mercury—nor did he try to be. Nor should he. He's so completely his own flamboyant thing and he's amazing in his own right. He was reverent without relying on mimicry. I'd like to think Freddie would approve. The crowd sure seemed to." Gwynedd Stuart, June 20, 2014, The Chicago Reader [Adam Lambert] “took the band’s music to new heights … with the perfect mix of rock attitude mixed with style, theatricality, sex appeal and impressive vocal gymnastics”.Hollywood Reporter review of the iHeartRadio Concert "This isn't the first time Queen have attempted to replace their iconic frontman: Everyone from Wyclef Jean to Robbie Williams to Bad Company's Paul Rodgers, who toured with the band for the better part of the Aughts, has stepped into the late singer's massive shoes. From his cheeky call-and-response during "Another One Bites the Dust" to his outsize take on "Killer Queen," spreading out on a purple lounger and fake-chugging champagne, Lambert proved as brilliant a fill-in as you're bound to find." Rolling Stone, June 20, 2014 And a bonus -- my favorite Adam comments from the stage -- from the opening concert in Chicago. "Hey, Chicago. Look at my couch. It's really butch." The Queen fans around me were trying to figure out WTF was going on at this point since most had never seen or heard anyone like Adam in their lives -- and Freddie or Paul never had a couch! Well there isn't anyone like Adam, is there! The guys in front of me literally dropped there jaws. **** Finally, this one review really captured the challenge Adam faces....stepping into Freddie's place.

Have some people like this - but I think they are just afraid to back down from their position. You know the type. Who knows, maybe they are just in the closet about Adam. That could very well be. He's pretty stubborn in a lot of ways. He did get me hooked on Queen though when I was a kid so I am grateful for that. Maybe as a thank you for introducing you to Queen, you could give him their new Forever cd and try not to mention Adam's name. I know I would then be so tempted to send him Brian's interview saying the current shows are as good as they've ever done, but that would be pretty counterproductive, wouldn't it?
