Watching Adam in action today was a thing of beauty. As Hoppers said, he played that DJ like a fiddle. First using the RT of the DJ's douche-y tweet to draw attention not only to the nail polish issue but also to the DJ's lame comment. (And I'm of the opinion, based on the guy's subsequent tweets, that he was not making thoughtful social commentary, but making fun of Adam.)
Adam knew his RT would get his fanbase mobilized, and he let that gather steam for a while, in the meantime tweeting a couple of astute comments about the gender "confusion" issue.
Then he tweets the DJ, basically ascribing the guy a praise-worthy motive (which is BS, cuz that wasn't the guy's intention and Adam knew it, lol), and at the same time calling off the fans.
Not only did the DJ get totally played, but amazingly, he was left feeling good feelings about Adam. Brilliant.
Also gotta point out that Adam wrangled his fans pretty darn well, too. Stirred 'em up in support of him, and then called them back when the point was made. And we were left feeling even more good feelings about Adam. Just as brilliant.
Smart smart smart. Love him!
And I totally agree with Rabbitrabbit. I like to always start from a place of assuming that people want to do the right thing, and are open to a civilized conversation. If you start with insults and name-calling, you've lost before you ever had a chance to change someone's mind.

changed his tune @abelsanchez my thoughts R if you allow kids freedom of expression/play they grow up to be creative and successful ppl like Adam Lambert 2 minutes ago via web Reply Retweet .rabbittopia Abelsanchez .@rabbittopia agreed:) 1 minute ago via Twittelator in reply to rabbittopia Sorry but you don't know that's a change of tune IMO. I read it that way from the beginning and said as much some pages ago. IMO people are way to quick to jump on the slightest remark without provocation and it turns into more than it was ever meant to be. Adam, as usual, handles himself with grace, class and intelligence. Some of his fans, who claim he's such an inspiration, should learn a thing or two by his example.

Happy Birthday Cheriemelisa, Lifetraveler and Lifeguard!!! And happy birthday to Angelkrash too I think I missed you yesterday.
ETA: I'm still catching up so also a very happy birthday to the incomparable EmoElvisSpikeyMessyElvis. What would we ever do without you to name Adam's hairstyles. Did you see that UK paper tried to name his do for the NNN awards? They suck.
