I thought the lisp was from the retainer he wore on occasion but what do I know.

To be honest I'm finding this whole theme somewhat confusing as I can't recall Adam ever speaking with a lisp? The poor sound reproduction on the Upright Cabaret videos made him sound slightly lispy and that's the only time I ever heard it, certainly not in any interviews. ??? Adam is a great communicator in interviews because he always 'mirrors' the interviewer - I do it all the time in my job and it is actually completely unconscious so I agree with Graciejane's take on this. Yes we all speak differently depending on the our audience. That is my point. He has a fan audience, and does not speak this way now in interviews. The origin of this conversation was that of mszue's posting... relating to Adam as a growing artist and how he chooses to display his sexual side/gayness in future concerts, and the possible impact on the future fanbase.
Maybe in real life depending on who he is with, he may still speak in this fashion. I have not heard him speaking like in interviews since those days...that is what I am saying. I do not believe it was the quality of the audio that caused the lispyness....just his style at the time. Just my view. This video is old and wonderful...and was re-posted only 4 days ago. It highlights implicitly the speech pattern, I am referring to. Maybe you are meaning something else??? Adam speaks at 12 seconds and then at 3:12 this second conversation demonstrates his speech even more so. interesting... I hear absolutely nothing unusual or different during both interviews... I guess my own surroundings are such that I perceive Adam's intonations absolutely "normal" ...

Thank you Adam for this wonderful pic from M&G in Warsaw - one of the best TOHT concerts ever!

true...how do you discuss quality of pop music? What are the parameters? What are the qualifiers? It is all so individual and subjective... Is it a "test of time" as augenpoesie suggested? Is it "popularity" as in "chart placement"? Is it some technical (chords, key, etc) characteristics? I have no idea... For instance I find WWFM to be a dull, whiny little song with a simplistic message, a song with totally uninteresting and annoying melody - yet it's a "hit". Is it "quality" music? Is it any better than for instance Broken Open - a song with deep meaning and amazingly haunting melody? I love WWFM. To me, the message is powerful and so relatable and the song is exciting. Loved hearing it on the radio, and still hear it sometimes. I was thrilled when it garnered a Grammy nom. They play WWFM here in the Czech Republic quite often (especially last a few months - I think it could have some connection with QAL tour in Europe). Just yesterday my husband and I were in a restaurant with our friends and all of a sudden I heard a very familiar melody. I was like: "OMG!!!" And went totaly in a fangirl mode, trying not to scream loud. Our friends were like: "What happened?" My husband knew immediatelly: "Adam Lambert!" (He loves Adam too. :D) Well, I managed to calm down, but was sitting there with a big smile on my face during all the song. I think our friends had to think I was totally insane. I don't care though. :D

I know I am being as contrary as hell today and I am not sure why, but the "ssss" sound in this video is purely the recording. It is a hiss and not a lisp. I think I need a massage.

I find it very, very sad when people think that being known as an incredible voice is somehow less than being known for writing music. They are two different things and one is no less than the other. Why on earth should it be considered a disappointment for Adam to only be known as one of the most incredible voices in the industry. That wasn't a problem for Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Pavarotti, etc.
You know I've watched a lot of crap movies and TV over the years just because an actor or actress I loved was in it. When a great actor is in a crap movie people might moan about why they chose that part but they rarely say that it made the actor any less talented. I love the songs Adam writes and I'd love for everyone else to love them too but I'm a fan of his voice and other artistic skills first and foremost. So why would Adam being known for his voice be any less of a draw than being known for his songwriting. I was a fan of David Bowie because his image intrigued me and I liked his voice. To be honest I didn't know or care whether he wrote his songs or played his own instruments or not. If I'd had any money to spend on records then I'd have bought them. I was a fan of Bob Dylan before I ever heard his voice because I liked his songs sung by other people. When I actually heard a recording of him singing, I laughed my ass off because I thought it was atrocious. Only became a fan of his performing after watching him in interviews talking rings around the press. His intelligence made me hear his performances differently and begin to appreciate them. Wouldn't have paid money to hear him sing before that regardless of how great the songwriting was.
I guess my point is why would being known as one of the greatest voices of this generation be considered something to look down on or somehow undesirable.

Mzsue..... appreciate your gutsy words....as they are my thinkings and feelings as well. How he chooses to be an entertainer is in his hands. What segment of fans he chooses to connect with....in his hands. Cabaret or arena touring....all about image. TV, hosting, spokesperson.....what could the future bring? We all have our versions of what we like about about Adam....the entertainer. Even recently, an Atoper I have shared time with...wants him back in the Fantasy Springs dress and delivery mode....even in QAL. Not me! I remember a comment shared by someone who knew Adam...back in his club days. True Adam does not speak the way he did back then....so this person was implying he was putting on an act now that he has changed. The slight lisp...to his speech patterns, and in his singing is no longer there. Why? Only Adam would know when and why the changes. Conscious or unconscious ... (I have my own suspicions related to Adam considering his future....and what would help him in clawing forward/reaching his goals.) He has had his bumps along the way....yet some victories....the awesomeness of recognition for Activism/singing/acting/hosting. He is where is because of it all....he will still have his "Adamisms", as he prides himself as one who is different. He is so poised for his future and destiny.
So where is he going? How mindful of his performance style, song and lyric choice? Mzsue said it like it is... Adam has said many times, we don't know how gay he really is. But I think something changed when he met Sauli. I remember Sauli saying he does not like effeminate men, so it may be Adam made a conscious change to fit the relationship. You are right he comes across very butch now and the tattoos and the muscle development is more closely resembling a more butch person. I think people change over time in their mannerisms and who they are. I definitely feel Adam has done that, at least in his public image. What he is in private in none of our business, but I truly believe there have been significant changes. It's all good, either way!!!

Ok guys, I'm having a freakout moment....I leave on Wednesday and cannot wait!! As of now, my plane has 47 available seats and that likely won't change much and my row is empty!! I am so excited to meet some of you in the next week and am so looking forward to this experience! If only the stress of finalizing everything would go away.
