Sauli is from Finland, do you think he would be unused to cold weather ? Hahaha!! I was thinking the same thing with Katri's blog. She talked about the Grand Canyon being freezing. My first thought: Katri, you live in Finland, how cold can the desert be? And yes, the desert does get very cold at night, but "very cold," probably means 42F or so. If they weren't prepared for it, I understand, but that has nothing on the -4F range. Okay, I checked, it is getting as low as 32F (freezing) at the Grand Canyon these days. LOVED that radio show!! I had stream issues, but kind of got into a rhythm with it. I never knew about that studio acoustic version of "Crazy." OMG!!! They did say it was recorded in studio. Slightly OT but the Grand Canyon brings back fond memories of the first time I took my parents there. They came to visit when I used to live in LA and took them to the usual tourist spots - Universal, Disney, SeaWorld, etc. At the Grand Canyon, me to Mama: Isn't this so beautiful? Mama: Yes. How long did it take them to make this? Me thinking: (guess after all the touristy places I took them, she thought this was another one) Me: I think it took Him 6 days and on the 7th day, He rested! Mama: Oh you mean, God made this? Oh my sweet wonderful Mama!

mayumi, cute story. Reminds me of when we took some friends to Disneyland and they thought the real people eating in the Blue Bayou Restaurant (which you can see from inside Pirates of the Caribbean) were animated figures! :D

Hmmm, seeing sound likes like sensory overload, to me. I think it would drive me crazy. People with this ability see all sound, right? If it was just music, it'd be cool (maybe.) But do I want to see the sound of a car, or that damn noisy trash truck? Umm, no! What about watching TV or going to movies?? It actually sounds like something that would literally drive me insane. Well, I don't have any problems with it whatsoever I see music, letters, numbers in color, also associate feelings with it, yet it isn't something I think twice about. It's just a quick impression and that's mostly it. Also, the intensity of it depends on my general mood, emotional investment and level of energy. A lot of times I don't see/feel a thing. Dunno, maybe I'm only half-developed synesthete? ??? ;D It's all good, at least to me, so don't worry

OT: last night at the Scissor Sisters concert, I heard Jake talk about a play in SF he would be involved with - I looked online and here is the info (this is mostly for noangel and scorpio): Shears and Scissor Sisters collaborator John "JJ" Garden are currently providing the lyrics and score for a world-premiere musical adaptation of Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City, a beloved series of novels (and later a television miniseries) about life in San Francisco in the 1970s. The musical will begin performances in San Francisco on May 18, 2011 at the American Conservatory Theater, where Shears and Garden are collaborating with a creative team that includes playwright Jeff Whitty and director Jason Moore, of the Tony-Award winning musical Avenue Q.
I hope they are successful with this - I really enjoyed their concert and from my research today seems they have been working a long time towards success in the US (in the UK they have been wildly successful).
ETA: noangel, I agree with your assessment of Jake Shears - while he is in very good physical shape, I didn't find him that sexy, so it surprised me to find out that he used to strip. Also, "In some of their early shows, Jake Shears was known to remove all of his clothes onstage, harking back to his former profession as a go-go stripper; while in others he threw inflated condoms into the audience" - guess our show was pretty tame?
