Thanks Cassie. I am not sure if you saw it, but a few days ago I posted a thank you to you for all of your contributions, I really enjoy them. I also posted a link to a video showing the inside of a singer's throat which I thought you might like to see in light of the shot we got of Adam's.

WWAS, What Would Adam Say? If Adam sent a tweet about David Cook or Beyonce, what would he say?

I wanted to add my two cents. I've been in LA for the last 7 weeks working with lots and lots of people. Pretty much everyone knows Adam now and it is all in a very good way. I no longer wait for the raised eyebrow when I mention his name. There is no more AMA shit, no more AI references unless it is an explanation to an uninitiated cretin. Then it might be "that glam kid from AI" but I never heard it said in a disrespectful way. There is a lot of anticipation about his next album but in a very positive way not in a way where anyone is expecting him to fail or hoping he does. As always it is about the almighty dollar, but Adam's career (and how nice that it is the same with his personal life) seems to be right on track. There appears to be more need for Adam to be in competition with Bieber and B Spears from his fans than from people in the industry. His newly acquired toned down persona makes many feel more comfortable and now when he does glam it up they see it as performance art or a young buck being out on the town not as who he is as a real person. The Grammy nod was huge in this regard. All in all, no matter what happens with #2 and I think it will be great, Adam has a career that will keep growing and improving. With that voice there is no other possibility. Adam may not NEED the super superstardom that many of his fans need to feel that he has arrived. I could be wrong, but being a star, meeting people he has admired, working with people he considers talented, receiving props for his charity work, getting invited to places he would like to be, and knowing it is his voice that has gotten him here rather than some tricky PR moves engenders a quiet confidence that is a very good look on him. I generally try to completely catch up before I post but this stopped me in my tracks and made my heart so full... Beautiful, and thank you!

WTF?? I just listened to a song, #2 on Q102, called "Down on Me" and the main lyric was "Put your booty down on me." This is the crap that makes me furious! Adam can't sing FYE or Fever on the radio, but a straight R&B artist can have "Down on me" played???!!! Aftermath did not make the 10@10 survey.

I think there's a difference between being a SUPERSTAR! and selling a gaxillion albums and singles.
I will never try to put Adam in the same category as Beiber or Britney, simply because he is so different and so much better. I do, however, agree with keyboard that Adam is in a good place and will continue to grow, artistically and personally.
I do believe he can be a Superstar and retain his integrity. I do believe he can be a Superstar and be a game changer. I believe he can be an artistic success and ALSO a commercial success. I guess I'm trying to say-- I do not think one thing excludes the other. If anyone can navigate that path, it is Adam.

Adam will have a lot of song material ready for TPTB to review for Adam 2. What I worry about is that TPTB will be so clueless as to what is current, what the fans are interested in and lack the understanding of Adam’s vision for the album that we will get a bunch of irrelevant, outdated, cookie cutter music. Maybe I'm foolishly optimistic, but I'm not particularly concerned that RCA will want Adam's album to be chock full of "irrelevant, outdated, cookie cutter music." RCA was apparently very much on board with Adam's rather unorthodox artistic vision for FYE, and that was when he was an untried artist fresh off of AI. Why, after he has done so much to prove himself, would TPTB at the label try to force his all-important sophomore release into such trite territory? I think the label recognizes the value of letting Adam be Adam. Similarly, I think Adam recognizes the need for radio-friendly material (which does not, by its very definition, mean that it will be inane and cookie-cutter). You don't collaborate with the likes of Ryan Tedder to come up with the esoteric and the bizarre - you collaborate with him because he knows how to write hits. Same with Bonnie McKee. So far it seems that Adam is going for an interesting combination of the commercial and the more adventurous in his collaborations. As long as he brings strong commercial cuts a la Ryan and Bonnie, he has a good shot at also getting the more cutting edge Sia and Nikka material on the album as well. Personally, I'm intrigued and very optimistic about Adam 2.0.

Aloha, love that post, and ITA. I honestly believe that Adam is capable of doing something quite new and groundbreaking. The fact that it is SO hard to categorize him, or even to find someone with whom to compare him, speaks volumes.
I think that's a big part of the reason he has had to work so hard for radio acceptance. Everyone fits into neat little boxes, and it seems like if anyone is allowed to push the envelope, it's usually the women. But Adam is crazy talented, and fiercely driven, and has a very successful year behind him. He's in a very good place, I think.
As for the David Cook song, I listened twice, and I'm afraid I don't really like it. Kinda just aiight for me. And this is me, who loves a good angsty song, and I really loved Cook on Idol. But what I loved was his ability to do something unexpected and fresh. Billie Jean was brilliant. IMO he's taken the road more travelled, and that's boring, for me. Still, my heart goes out to Cook fans. We all know what is ahead of them-- the obsession with adds, radio play, sales numbers, etc. Far be it from me to wish him anything but well.
