Adam will have a lot of song material ready for TPTB to review for Adam 2. What I worry about is that TPTB will be so clueless as to what is current, what the fans are interested in and lack the understanding of Adam’s vision for the album that we will get a bunch of irrelevant, outdated, cookie cutter music. Maybe I'm foolishly optimistic, but I'm not particularly concerned that RCA will want Adam's album to be chock full of "irrelevant, outdated, cookie cutter music." RCA was apparently very much on board with Adam's rather unorthodox artistic vision for FYE, and that was when he was an untried artist fresh off of AI. Why, after he has done so much to prove himself, would TPTB at the label try to force his all-important sophomore release into such trite territory? I think the label recognizes the value of letting Adam be Adam. Similarly, I think Adam recognizes the need for radio-friendly material (which does not, by its very definition, mean that it will be inane and cookie-cutter). You don't collaborate with the likes of Ryan Tedder to come up with the esoteric and the bizarre - you collaborate with him because he knows how to write hits. Same with Bonnie McKee. So far it seems that Adam is going for an interesting combination of the commercial and the more adventurous in his collaborations. As long as he brings strong commercial cuts a la Ryan and Bonnie, he has a good shot at also getting the more cutting edge Sia and Nikki material on the album as well. Personally, I'm intrigued and very optimistic about Adam 2.0. I agree. If Adam had the control he seemed to have had, as a new artist, then I think RCA will respect his artistic views for album #2. And, you're so right about Ryan and Bonnie. Those are the people he went to for the radio hits. He still needs to work with Max Martin though. ETA: Just read Lyndsey's review of Cook's song and she likes it a lot. Of course, she is an Idol Loonie (like me!) I just donwloaded it from i-Tunes. It is much better than the leaked version. Clearer and crisper, vocals more prominent.

Thanks Cassie. I am not sure if you saw it, but a few days ago I posted a thank you to you for all of your contributions, I really enjoy them. I also posted a link to a video showing the inside of a singer's throat which I thought you might like to see in light of the shot we got of Adam's. Yippie: Somehow I missed your previous post, but searched for it and found it. That YT was very interesting. I wish they had slowed the film down so we could see the movement more clearly. What some humans can do with their voice and throat are boggling. Thanks for sharing, and thank you for your sweet compliments!

One last thought and then I'll stop spamming the thread Given that Adam has had such a high level of success internationally, and that his album will receive worldwide simultaneous release, and Adam has already mentioned a promo trips overseas, there is no way on earth that they're going to release a bland, middle-of-the-road HAC-style album. Yeah, they'll have U.S.-radio-friendly stuff, for sure, but I'll bet there will also be lots of edgy songs that will appeal to a diverse audience. No way will they risk losing that international fanbase.

Thanks for posting this, abriton!!! {{Sigh}} I like David Cook. I have been rooting for his second album. When production overrides an artist's vocals, I throw up my hands...why??? When Adam expressed he wanted the vocals front and center on album 2, I freaked my cats out hooting and hollerin' like the mad woman I am (And I love me some FYE). Bring on THE VOICE!! ETA: mys*&@^#r, I'm glad you mentioned that the itunes download of David's song showcases his vocals better. I wish him great success with his new venture! :D

Aloha, love that post, and ITA. I honestly believe that Adam is capable of doing something quite new and groundbreaking. The fact that it is SO hard to categorize him, or even to find someone with whom to compare him, speaks volumes. I think that's a big part of the reason he has had to work so hard for radio acceptance. Everyone fits into neat little boxes, and it seems like if anyone is allowed to push the envelope, it's usually the women. But Adam is crazy talented, and fiercely driven, and has a very successful year behind him. He's in a very good place, I think. As for the David Cook song, I listened twice, and I'm afraid I don't really like it. Kinda just aiight for me. And this is me, who loves a good angsty song, and I really loved Cook on Idol. But what I loved was his ability to do something unexpected and fresh. Billie Jean was brilliant. IMO he's taken the road more travelled, and that's boring, for me. Still, my heart goes out to Cook fans. We all know what is ahead of them-- the obsession with adds, radio play, sales numbers, etc. Far be it from me to wish him anything but well. LOOOVE THIS POST!!!! Every word!! And this one: Aloha: And LOL, you're "Put Your Booty Down on Me," post, mys*&@^#r!!No wonder I love you cray bitches lovely, insightful, human beings so much!!! I agree with everything; and regarding the Booty sitch, I have to say, I was somewhat appalled by Beyonce's single. This is supposed to be Top 40 material (not subversive, indie stuff) and it has sh*t N-word on repeat??? In what world is this right? I mean, don't get me wrong, I am not about censorship at all and I understand the context in hard rap, even semi mainstream, (M&M and Kanye?) who might use the term if the song has an angry, take-back-your-power vibe, but to use the N word gratuitously (IMO, but I only listened once while doing 100 things at work), struck me as a WTF and uncalled for. IDGI at all.
