Re: Cook's new single. My first impression ---- what is he saying/singing? His voice is so covered by the instruments I have a hard time distinguishing the lyrics. My fervent hope is that Adam is true to his word and keeps the vocals of Album 2 front and center and in your face. Arrangements like this would just suck! Yes, yes, yes. In several interviews, Adam has emphasized that he wants the vocals to be more predominant on Adam2, so I know he understands the concern and I have faith that he will fight to make it happen. If you're on Twitter, please consider signing this petition (or "twitition") to let Michael Sarver appear on Ellen's show. I don't follow his career, but he has been so supportive of Adam--more so than any other Idol from that season--so I signed it. He's a nice guy and I'd like to see him get any opportunity that comes his way. twitition.com/a2daq

Thought is that this is not the final mix, just a leak. But I can understand Cook's lyrics well. For a rocker, he has excellent enunciation, IMO. (Not Adam, of course, but better than most.) ETA: I always think of Pink as kind of a model for Adam. ^^^ Absolutely! He is way more like P!NK than Gaga. I can picture Adam singing P!nk songs and her singing his songs, so easily. I hope Adam has some writing and recording time with Max Martin planned.

The thing about Cook's single sounding the same as so much other stuff out there (which I agree with) is that it seems that's what gets played. People love the familiar. I can't imagine anything on Adam2 having that sound. Maybe Adam bucked Tedder & that's why he sounded just a little bit disgruntled? I can only hope. OT - I detect a lack of enthusiasm from Cooks fans for the single. Oh most say they like it but there's little OMFG IT'S AWESOME, which is what I would be saying if I loved Adam's new single. With more !!!!!'s though. To be fair I only checked mj's & twitter.
I agree totally about the voting myspenser. A give-it-all-I've-got try for 2 more days! And sad about the AM Remix sales. Doesn't speak well about the size of the core fanbase. I'm really perplexed about that since it certainly wasn't unaffordable. And this I totally agree with! Could the low sales for the remix be that, well, people were just kinda sick of it? We had Aftermath the album version and then the acoustic version followed back to back with the remix. Add the fact that it's not the best song on the album, imo, and maybe people were just Aftermath fatigued. I'm sure when new music comes out it will be diff. What he needs is a really strong lead single to get ppl buying the album and the more success he has with his first single the more likelihood his other singles from Adam2 will get radio play.

Possibly, chunkey (about Aftermath.) But in my mind, the "devoted fanbase" would buy it no matter what. If that is the case, then I would say his core US fanbase is around 5,000. Maybe I am wrong. I am sure that Adam will have at least 2 (hoping for 4) radio friendly singles on the new album. And since CHR has already played him, I think they will be more receptive. Also, maybe I am in the bubble, but he just doesn't seem all that controversial anymore! So maybe even stations that resisted, last time, will jump on the bandwagon.

RE: DC.. I actually didn't think the song was all that bad.. after reading the comments I was expecting something really bad..If Adam were to sing the same song. it would sound completely different.. *shrug* Adams voice has much more depth and richness than DC so it would not sound like how DC sang it.. Adam would have infused the song with way more drama it think.
For DC it sounds ok.. but, to me it was just a song. I would be far more horrified if Adam put out a song similar to the kinds of songs Britney or even LG do.. Adam just doesn;t sing that way.

:( wow, I really can't believe that this is the best first song they could offer up, given the long delay with his album. Really disappointing and I like Cook. I think he is a really sweet guy and talented but I was struck by how meh (in every sense) this song is. Are his stans happy with this?? I'm with you Q3, I'll cry if anything on Adam2 sounds like this. I don't know why anyone would be the least bit worried that Adam2 would sound anything like Cook's single. FYE doesn't sound like David Cook 1. They are such completely different artists. I am hoping that Cook is very successful so that the Idol 2nd album curse (sans Kelly) can be broken. After Archie's major fail, that is what worries me. How much of a fanbase do Cook and Adam have? I never questioned Adam's fanbase until recently and that is only because of the poor sales of Aftermath remix. :-/ oh I agree, mys*&@^#r. I'm not worried about Adam. I was just musing that after such a long wait, I would be so disappointed if Adam released this or a clone of WWFM, showing no apparent growth between albums. I guess I assumed that David was rushed as everyone else with his first post-idol album and that he would really establish himself with album 2. This single doesn't give me that confidence. I have VERY high hopes/expectations for Adam2!

I think one of the reasons that people will not swallow the camp idea with Gaga is that all of her interviews lately have pointed toward her taking herself too seriously. Adam laughed off the reactions to the FYE cover and declared it camp himself right away and so the media kind of followed his lead. But with Gaga out there saying those protrusions on her body are real and not prothetics it gets harder and harder to see what she is doing as camp. If she never drops the persona it changes the way that it is perceived. Because we can see Adam in many different ways it is easier to see what are the exaggerations but Gaga gives us no reference points because she hides her true self. Thank you!! that is what I was trying to say yesterday but failed miserably at. Gaga isn't campe because camp is "in on the joke" where I don't think Gaga thinks it's a joke. I haven't heard her say in interviews that the protrusions are real... is she really saying this? ??? that's ridiculous IMO if true. Adam does his OTT things with a wink and a smile to let the audience/media know that he's laughing right along with us at the whole thing. that's why we can enjoy it... it's permission to be goofy. newsfeed.time.com/2011/04/15/quotes-lady-gaga-on-her-weird-cheekbone-protrusions/“They're not prosthetics. They're my bones. They come out when I'm inspired. They've always been inside of me, but I have been waiting for the right time to reveal to the universe who I truly am." She's lost it.

IMO you're not wrong and let me say that I really like DC. I wanted him to win AI from the start. But after 2 years and he comes up with this mix of various old songs of his and other artists? Not bad but very dissapointing.

I was talking about his first post Idol album. This new album was a long time in the making. I'm obviously not making myself very clear so I'll bow out of the conversation now.
