Hmmmmm. Interesting. Is it Adam's natural voice? Yes.... and no. The first time thru that high voice is, in my opinion, all him. Falsetto or head voice? Hard for me to tell. But, I am going for head voice thrown high into the facial mask. If it was falsetto, I think it would be breathier, less ringing. The highest note is E flat 5, which is two notes lower than his incredible G5 in the last note of My Conviction. It just sounds so high because it is so crystal and piercing. They might also have tweaked the higher frequencies in the production mix. The second time thru, tho, the person making the video raised the pitch electronically. You can hear the change in the key that is not in the original snippet it was taken from. Also, there is something a little chipmunk-y in the sound. I don't think the snippet needed tweaking. It was totally impressive just as it was. Damn! That boy can SANG! I think it's falsetto. But it really doesn't matter. It's pretty and it's impressive. And yes, what's with the chipmunky sound? Why the key change-- do you think this is from a part of the song we haven't heard yet? Or just someone messing around?

The official snippet does not have the key change or the chipmunk sound.

I think it's falsetto which really fits the Prince vibe since it's all over Prince's stuff! Although I'm not a huge fan of Kickin' In I can't deny how impressive the vocals are. Wonder how they develop later in the song?

Wonder how they develop later in the song? Yeah, y'all are probably right. It does sound MJ, Prince even a little Bee Gee ish. I'm probably influenced by the fact that he CAN sing those notes in head voice, and he has said he rarely sings falsetto. Also agree that I love his voice in all its permutations.

Good to finally see a video that includes Quiet Desperation! The best track for Adam's lower register for sure. I love the sound of the sparse arrangement paired with that gorgeous deep, rich sound to his voice.

Very cool, an easy way to show off Adam's spectacular range without subjecting someone to 9 minutes of non-stop high notes! Good to see Shady in there too.

Hey guys..... This isn't really Adam related but a general music question. Could someone please tell me what is meant by saying a note is a little "flat" or a little "sharp"? Does "flat" fall below the pitch and "sharp" above it, or something else entirely? They're not interchangeable are they? Just curious. Thanks for any clarification you can give.

You've got it exactly right. This YT demonstrates what it sounds like when a singer is flat or sharp. This is a longer demonstration: Adam has a very good sense of pitch, and rarely sings off pitch, but, hey, it does happen. Remember the last note of the AI live performance of Mad World? He started it a twinge sharp, but quickly caught it and settled into the right pitch.
