I've always thought that Brian and Roger were about the only band in the world that could do an entire tour with only the audience singing. I'd bet it would work OK as a one off... considering the alternative. <laughs wryly> Well, its true the entire audience knows the words! Its just hitting the notes that could be a problem. multiplied by

Like many, many others I went to a Queen Plus Adam Lambert concert because of Adam..Queen said they wouldn't appear with anyone else but Adam..so there you go.. Exactly! "Better than nothing?" Only if you think Adam is not an essential part of this tour! Sorry, but I find that post just wrong for an Adam Lambert board, when Adam is ill. I

Unless they definitely have a plan to reschedule, it would have been a cool time to throw something together but Queen has never been spontaneous. I remember when Eddie Vedder fell in they just got Neil Young to sing and they did all sorts of tracks not on the original set list. It could have been a unique gig although I know the Adam fans probably wouldn't have cared as much... Going by the US/UK tour they could have cobbled together: Procession Now I'm Here (Brian on vocals) Fat Bottomed Girls (Brian or Roger on vocals - they've both done it) In The Lap Of The Gods Revisited (Brian) I Want To Break Free (Roger) A Kind Of Magic (Roger) Love Of My Life (Brian) Long Away (Brian) 39 (Brian/Roger) Days Of Our Lives (Roger) Bass Solo Drum Battle I'm In Love With My Car (Roger) Say It's Not True (Rog/Brian) Tenement Funster (Rog) Under Pressure (Rog/Brian) Guitar Solo TYMD (Brian vocals) I Want It All (Brian) Hammer To Fall (Brian) Ga Ga (Rog vocals) Crazy (Rog vocals) BO Rap (Freddie tape) WWRY (B/R vocals) Champions (B/R/Audience type vocals) Not that I think that this wouldn't be interesting, but a production like this would definitely take more than one day (or half of one day) to put together. For one, many songs where you suggest Rog does vocals probably require him to front the band. I can't see Ga Ga, for example, being performed without a true frontman. That means that Rufus would have to sit behind the kit. He would most likely need time to practice all of those songs. Secondly, you listed many songs that are not part of current or past QAL setlists, so they would not have lighting effects set up yet. Programming the lights would take more time than they currently have. Thirdly, Spike would probably need to pull out his rhythm guitar on Hammer to Fall. Again, no time to practice.... A show this this would be an interesting idea, but there's no way it could have happened in the current situation. In addition to the logistical problems, it's a different gig than advertized... PS - B and R, please replace 39 and TATDOOL/AKOM with Long Away and Tenement Funster just once...please?

But not everyone is going to (myself included for the reasons given above). Adam will sing again, but Brian and Roger may not be able to come back to Brussels again. Different people will view the theoretical options differently (and it is - at this point - a theoretical exercise as everyone *did* decide to cancel). But if the options WERE open, I don't see anything wrong with some (or even many) people wishing that some show was occurring tonight.

Wouldn't that be 'bait and switch'?If they were to go ahead without Adam then they might have to give ticket buyers a choice of their money back or a modified show without Adam and the promoters wouldn't get the insurance money back on returned tickets.

Not at all. Since they couldn't reschedule it would have been an interesting alternative to nothing. *shrug*. A tour like that wouldn't work but a one-off? Sure! Only if you see Adam as not a vital part of this tour! Obviously adam is vital to the tour. In this case they can't reschedule the show. So you can either refund and get nothing. Or you could have a one off show. I don't mean to be offensive as obviously Adam is one of the main reasons of this tour. He is vital. But if he can't go on, id rather get half a Queen show given who knows if B/R make it back to Belgium then nothing at all. My set is obviously makes the best of a bad situation. The only positive out of it for me would be to have a very different gig for the collection.

Not sure about legalities - Like I said was it Pearl Jam when Eddie got ill and Neil Young filled in?
As far as preparation.....I don't think it would be as hard as you would think. I modeled the show after the recent tour and had 5 "adds"
Long Away - Just Bri and acoustic
Love With My Car - a staple of QPR and only Neil's never done it Say It's Not True - staple of QPR Hammer To Fall - staple of QPR and Brian solo tours
Tenement Funster - the only real stretch
There are only 3 songs that Rufus would have to take ove on drums for so could do a simple pattern" Ga Ga,Crazy, and Break Free
Again not saying it's ideal. Ideal would be Adam getting better and singing...just thinking outside the box and it would be an interesting alternative.
