As the show is billed as Queen + AL legal reasons might stop them going ahead without Adam. Wouldn't that be 'bait and switch'. If they were to go ahead without Adam then they might have to give ticket buyers a choice of their money back or a modified show without Adam and the promoters wouldn't get the insurance money back on returned tickets. That's an intriguing wrinkle. Since Adam is specifically billed separately, they potentially can't legally play without Adam. Roger, Brian, Rufus, Spike, and Neil all fall under "Queen", but Adam doesn't. Ergo (if we continue that line of thought, whether or not it's actually correct) the show can go on if any of the other five keel over, but not Adam. Huh. Interesting.

If it was just Queen without the +AL then it might have worked to appease the diehard Queen fans. But the way it is billed it would not happen for legal issues. I know the majority of the people who bought tickets are Queen fans-wonder what percent make up for glamberts?

It is actually quite obvious... and production issues are probably insurmountable as well... ohhh....I just want Adam to recover and for no-one else to get sick, so this would be the only cancelled show.....

They would have had to offer the option of a refund even if they had decided to do some kind of show without Adam. After Bono's accident U2 had to pull out of a radio festival gig. People who had bought tickets were given the option of a refund so that anyone attending who was specifically there to see U2 was able to get their money back. Even when a show is rescheduled a refund option is required since the rescheduled show may not work for everyone.

I would think there are business/insurance reasons to not try to go on with some modified sort of gig. Surely they have a contingency for just this unfortunate occurance & are insured to cover the refunds, expenses etc. All of the vital, principal members of the show are probably covered... At very least, Adam, Brian & Roger, I bet. I'm sure the words "under doctor's orders" are not random. These things DO happen & there's a LOT of money tied up in this tour at risk. No one wants to ever disappoint the fans, but the bottom line must be considered too. Going on with some thown together, last minute show would probably nullified any insurance payout & still would not have been the show Brian & Roger wanted to give their audience. IMHO, the best decision was made & now the whole crew can rest a bit &, hopefully, our BB will recover SOON & be singing again for us in Milan!
Maybe Q3 has some insights on how this all works when a show is forced to cancel. We are, thankfully, virgins at this! And...where do we think Adam may be spending his bed & vocal rest right now?

WOW this replacement conversation is getting me very sad..Adam has missed one appearance in the lsat 6 years. Sorry but to me It's not just about Queen, the money they have to return or fans.. Adam is SICK and irreplaceable.Sending positivity might solve the problem ,so that Adam can get to Milan
The most important person in all of this is to me is ADAM and his health.. That's why i'm on this fan site.Maybe I'll see y'all later, maybe not. :(

Not sure about legalities - Like I said was it Pearl Jam when Eddie got ill and Neil Young filled in? As far as preparation.....I don't think it would be as hard as you would think. I modeled the show after the recent tour and had 5 "adds" Long Away - Just Bri and acoustic Love With My Car - a staple of QPR and only Neil's never done it Say It's Not True - staple of QPR Hammer To Fall - staple of QPR and Brian solo tours Tenement Funster - the only real stretch There are only 3 songs that Rufus would have to take ove on drums for so could do a simple pattern" Ga Ga,Crazy, and Break Free Again not saying it's ideal. Ideal would be Adam getting better and singing...just thinking outside the box and it would be an interesting alternative. IDK, I still think that just because a song was a QPR staple doesn't mean they can just pull it out for QAL on several hours notice. Different stage and lighting rig. Different band. Years of rust. I mean, they needed 2 or 3 days of production rehearsals before the UK tour to prepare One Vision and Save Me. melliemom, this isn't a replacement conversation, hon. We're just running through "what if" scenarios. We all know that Adam is irreplaceable.

so sad for everyone and esp. Adam, but how can 'severe bronchitis and 24 hrs' be used in the same sentence. antibiotics and steroids aside, it seems awfully optimistic to say upfront it will only affect one show. Maybe he has been under the weather for a few shows and being treated and now needs rest to get thru 3 more weeks.
