I was reading last few pages of Hamburg thread and I saw the challenge that nobody in all corner of the world can do what Adam did last night in Hamburg during TSMGO. And last night he did this amazing thing, was kneeling/sitting back-bend and hold the note at the end of TSMGO and it was superb, incredible and amazing. And we think nobody can do what he did last night in this whole world. And my mind automatically goes to this one person.
If we could search all corners of the planet I do believe we can find this person and we don't have to go too far. This person's here in the US. Look what she did from 4:00 up in the air not only holding one note but she did sing part of the song in the almost up side down position.
Okay I'm ready
I remember watching that performance. It was amazing. I'm not terribly fascinated by "spectacle" (ala Katy Perry's 1/2-time show), but this one was spectacular and beautiful. On the singing end of it, I have noticed a couple things--and I'm not making a contest between Adam and her. She certainly practiced this a lot as it looked effortless (and was apparently a gymnast as a kid). One would definitely need to get used to the spinning. In this performance she sings after she has changed her body position and is not singing anything very challenging (calm, low, short phrases). When Adam does his "acrobatics," he seems to do it on the fly, in the spirit of the moment, unrehearsed. In addition, he does it in this and other instances singing some very loud, high notes (during GNT a few times). To top it off, he is moving into position while he sings. That means his diaphragm (breathing muscle) is very busy while he is bending backwards into a difficult position. That would cause most of us to STOP breathing as we tighten our core stomach muscles. Both performances are amazing!

Lol, the translation 'fornication' is technically correct, in other contexts, but so misplaced here. I would translate that as 'Pop, Bombast, and Unseemliness' or even Pop, Pomp and Unseemliness to make use of the alliteration. But that would be taking artistic liberties, because the German Reviewer could have chosen the same word and did not. But anyways, this is written with a bit of a twinkle in the eye, because the German word Unzucht is old-fashioned and in this context it is clear that the author is not terribly upset at the chicanery unfolding on stage. The whole article is very positive. Nothing but praise from everybody, everywhere. ======= Got to respond to Adamme, lol, and no worries no mud-slinging at all. I love that performance, watched it more times than I care to admit. And sure, it is live singing, Pink is proud of that, she is not going to muck around with that. There comes a level of artistry, where different artists do different things, do them in a unique and inimitable way and just stand alone with that contribution. Pink is a gymnast and acrobat, who also can sing really well. Here she performs Bohemian Rhapsody, and I'd say, (forget the hesitant beginning, before she even starts singing), this is one of the best covers out there. Also like the reverence to Freddie shown in the costume, btw. www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLfW_XMwBGk&list=RDeLfW_XMwBGkSo, not taking anything away from Pink, because I love her, but having said that, I don't believe Pink could pull off the singing part of this final run in TSMGO (the two octave ascent is tough to do, and even Adam is not totally pitch perfect on it, btw), but Pink would not be able to do that part. Sure, she could do that backbend and then some, but the two together, Adam is in that league of his own, imo. And it is mostly, because nobody can sing like this. But anyways, thanks for bringing a wonderful Pink performance here, I love her too. Here is another one of my favorites: www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqUFTWi1pVgAnd it has a backbend while singing at 2:40. Not comparable to TSMGO, but singing.

It was precious sister time. She asked me to take her along in my back pocket on this solo European trip. And I have!

Love all her articles. So sorry she got so busy she couldn't continue. She has been asked to do an interview where she discusses Adam's voice. She is not sure she can squeeze it in, but I am doing my best to convince her. I have so many questions about how he has grown as a singer.

poor pink - did someone compliment her lol? (btw she was a gymnast when she was kid - she's not just off the olympic team lol - she trained like mad for that tour and still injured herself a number of times - risk taking in the name of artistry) Anyway, i'm a huge fan and while it's true she's not a belter, she has another kind of voice that I like very much. (of course, her amazing songwriting skills are also a great part of her arsenal.) While she clearly loves introducing theatrical elements into her shows, her song interpretations ('i don't believe you', 'glitter in the air' 'sober' 'f*ckin perfect') still convey such honesty and rawness, (fewer operatic gestures or drama gasps but huge emotional resonance) - they move me and make me think. maybe a different style need not be inherently inferior and can even have its advantages for some listeners. just one view
