Thanks Q3 for both of your informative posts on 'light and shade' and
explanation on that combo of pop, r&b and house.
The examples were helpful.
But, in general, I am still tapping around in the dark and will just have to resign myself to waiting.
There is a lot of genre fluidity on the present charts, to the point, where many songs I could not even place into any box, beyond 'pop'. That's good for Adam, I suppose.
At the top, we have funk, and Adam is great at that, but he did not indicate that direction, this afternoon.
Beyond that, I do not find anything that I would consider 'house', but maybe I don't have the best grasp of that term yet.
Dance? Some, sure, but many very different dance styles. I certainly can see Adam fitting into the present music landscape, but I have a tough time, associating it with the terms he has chosen. So I'll just have to wait and see.
I am never worried about Adam being boring or same old. While I agree that presently the jump from classic rock Queen style to all this, is jarring, there is no question in my mind, that it is necessary to make that leap, if Adam wants to have a chance at current pop music success. So jump he must, it is just the question to where the jump goes, and I don't feel I have any grasp of that whatsoever.
And it will remain to be seen, how many folks who have recently discovered him in the context of either Glee or Queen, are willing to give his new material a chance. Hopefully, many will do.

Been so spoiled by the Queen music that the idea of electronic dance music just sounds ..... kind of unappealing. R&B is more intriguing. I hope whatever style the new music takes it is at least "new" and not just same old same old.I am never worried about Adam being boring or same old.
