I was searching and hoping to see it online, but I I am not successful...it is small enough that I can type it up. AL - TOH WB * * * Singer's third LP is laced with big hooks, over-the-top energy ----------- AL is so great at glam-rock theatrics that he toured the world as Queen's frontman last year. On his third LP, though, the onetime American Idol runner-up channels the softer corners of his impressive vocal range over radio-friendly deep-house beats (check the excellent "Ghost Town"). Lambert is still larger-than-life on tracks like the power ballad "There I Said It," where he sings the silly line "I'm a grown-ass man" with utter conviction, and the pop-rock highlight "Lucy" ignites with a guest appearance from Brian May. Even when the lyrics verge on ridiculousness (on the Tove Lo-featurning 'Rumors," Lambert denounces "haterade"), he's one of the biggest personalities in pop. Brittany Spanos. Okay, that's not so terrible. I feel better. ETA: Googled "haterade" and I see it's been around for a while and probably fits right in with the theme of the song as we've heard Adam explain it.

Umm... I don't know whether it's just me that feels this way but I dont think its that big of a deal. 3 is not a bad review especially for RS, and it doesn't have significant impact on sales anyway It's not just you, I'm really finding it hard to care what RS thinks. The way I look at it -- they reviewed it and gave it 3 stars. That is fine.

Graciejane, my thoughts exactly. I don't think I'll ever get used to the Velcro line. Don't have a problem with that review.

You just said it all, Adamrocks. Way to go!
RS review of 3 stars is what they give to many, many new releases . . . just counted those in my last magazine, and 5 albums received 3 stars; 3 received 2 or 2 1/2 stars; 9 received 3 1/2 stars; and 1 received 4 stars. I don't know half the people whose albums were reviewed; and I listen to Top 40 Radio every day. Jason Derulo's album received 3 stars. Good heavens! Who cares? Who is going to go out and buy music solely based upon RS? Why be worried? TOH will fly or it won't - and RS will not be the reason for it. Proof is in the '4 stars for Trespassing". Why base the ups and downs on reviews? Listen to the music!! Does it happen for you or not?!! Wish I knew where Adamtopians have discovered the review. I can't find it online. Feel like a kid who's been denied the cake and ice cream. Maybe by the time I post this we'll have a link. As for 'unique lyrics' . . . that's something Adam referenced when talking about Tove Lo; the honesty in her writing. Adam's lyric freedom didn't just begin with TOH . . . anyone remember 'thingses'? I can relate to 'haterade' even without having a clue . . . knowing it came from an Adam/Tove Lo collab is enough for me to be excited!

The phrase "laced with big hooks" is pleasing because that speaks to the album's radio/commercial potential.

Well..after actually seeing what this RS reviewer said it's not as bad as I was anticipating it to be. But I'm still not letting any rating from anybody ruin my joy for TOH. I'll be all.... .....

RE the RS review, we had a critically acclaimed album that did not take off last time so it seems to me that Reviews have little influence on the success of an album. I will be fine if Adam only has average reviews from the "critics". I want an album that is successful, not critically acclaimed.
