Graciejane, my thoughts exactly. I don't think I'll ever get used to the Velcro line. Don't have a problem with that review. I love the Velcro line -- although I might never get used to the moo.

Everything I care about was fine in the review - singing with conviction, hooks, Queen mention, collabs. Doubt pop is where you go for lyric masterpieces though I suspect there are exceptions. Could have given a better rating if the only issue was lyrics but there are good quotables in that review for sure.

RE the RS review, we had a critically acclaimed album that did not take off last time so it seems to me that Reviews have little influence on the success of an album. I will be fine if Adam only has average reviews from the "critics". I want an album that is successful, not critically acclaimed. I agree -- I take the SPIN Magazine selection of "Ghost Town" as the #32 song of 2015 and a 3-star review from RS as a pretty great day -- considering this album is a pop album, with a mostly electronic music designed for radio and mass appeal.

Funny because RS has not been a rock mag in years. 1. RS don't like Pop (ironically) 2. 3 stars is solid. It is actually a very good review considering. I think the reviewer is more taking shots at the riduclousness of pop in general. Most lyrics in pop is riduclous. But Adam makes you beleive in what he is saying. He did think GT is excellent. This well not make or break the album. Radio and Fans well.

Never said, the review was all bad. It is the RN review that is better, and praises the vocals and emotional depth, that stings, imo. But reviews are always subjective. The success of this album will be decided by word of mouth, and not by a reviewer, even though RS is obviously important.
As I said, I think the reviewer just does not get or does not like Adam's sense of humor, which comes through in the quotes she picked.
She also clearly is a bit unhappy about the commercial appeal of a lot of the tracks, and that is of course something that I am very happy about. Ghost Town was to me a track that showed the ability to tap into what is commercially successful today, and yet provide something totally different, and I found that interesting and original and in many ways daring. And it seems to be working for Adam, because the track is doing well. I am hoping that this originality is indicative of the further work on the album. And while the overall enthusiasm in the industry about this album, encourages me to think so, this review does not seem to recognize such a next level, beyond that GT lead track. And that surprises me a bit. So, this and the RN situation were the two things that made me a bit unhappy about the review.
But, yes, the review is not all bad. It is average, and I was just hoping for more. That's all.

I think that's a good review, actually! Me too. From the previous descriptions, I was expecting something dreadful.

We just all kinda panicked for a moment there - it is what we do!!! lol I totally get your aggravation with Adam frequently not being recognized for his vocal ability. I think that is something we will just have to live with. He just makes it seems so easy that people do not realize what he is doing. They hear someone who sounds like they are busting a gut or destroying their vocal cords and assume they have extraordinary abilities when often that is not the case. HUGS!!
