What happened to the EITN performance from Logo? It's no longer on their site, or any other place, and I didn't get to see it :(. Anyone know? I don't know, but here it is on Youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDEt7gxl7I0 |

Perhaps they can pick TOH for a single in October and shoot the music video in New Zealand or AU or South Africa! I agree with your list TOH and then EITN or Rumors. i prefer Rumors only because Adam did not write EITN. On our way to San Francisco Pride today, hubby and I listened to the whole album. Once we got in the car he asked to play "The Original High" first. I obliged gladly. Next he mentioned why Adam isn't releasing TOH as a single already. For him it has "summer hit single" written all over. I agree. Funny thing -- I got in my car earlier today with my husband. I had the ALN playing (just where I left off). I started to turn it off -- and he said "No, leave it. I like it." {shock and smiles from me} Then he said he knew they had a strategic reason for releasing GT as the first single but he really wondered why they did not release TOH first. Then my 25 year old son and his girlfriend got in the car and asked me to play "Ghost Town". |

Mayumi - I haven't posted in forever (just a lurker here LOL!) but was catching up on all the great Adam news today and saw this post and it both inspired me and brought back some difficult memories of a similar situation I was involved in many years ago. Back in 2004 near the end of the very intense George W. Bush vs. John Kerry election, the church I belonged to (Presbyterian) changed pastors and a new young pastor took over and you could tell immediately that he was very politically oriented. There were little comments here and there (voting hints...) and finally during one sermon right before Election Day he just outright preached "God is a Republican" and many of the church members including the elders started cheering and that was it for me. I spoke up and said "no - God isn't a politician - he doesn't choose sides!" then I got up and walked out and I never came back. Not sure what part of the country you live in but I live in a very conservative southern town. On election day back then there were people out with signs stating "vote Democrat and you are going straight to Hell". Even now our country still has a long way to go but the Supreme Court decision this week was a big step in the right direction. On a personal note - I am so impressed by how you stood up for your beliefs today - and as others have said you will inspire others to do the same. I love what you said to the congregation, stormchaser--"God isn't a politician." Reminds me of the very wise words of Susan B. Anthony: "I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do, because I notice it always coincides with their own desires." [ This is given me flashbacks to my time in South Florida during Bush v. Gore! I was pregnant and decided to give religion another try after a rather tenuous relationship through most of my adult years. Raised in a relatively liberal Lutheran Church in PA, and my husband and I decided to try the Lutheran church down the street in Boca Raton. What an eye-opener! The sermon was all about how homosexuality and premarital sex were horrible sins and then the pastor started in on the election and may as well have put a Bush-Cheney bumper sticker on the pulpit! I was shocked! I was about to stand up in my pew and express my outrage or at least storm out. My husband said, "We'll talk about it after the service; don't make a scene"' (which kinda made me mad, now that I think about it, lol) but I just sat there boiling mad and then left as soon as service was over. I was, like, what kind of Lutheran church is this? Turned out it was Missouri Synod, a super conservative offshoot. Anyway, that was the last time we went to that place, that's for sure. Don't they know that the Lutheran way is to not confront big issues and sweep them under the rug? Or at least table them until the next session. Actually they have been pretty progressive of late in my old church in PA. Have been to the one here in Nashville and it's similar to the one I grew up with. Much more concerned with Jesus' love and God's grace than hellfire and damnation. I don't go very often anymore, and a part of me misses it--I'm really a secular Lutheran, if that's possible--raised in the church with a strong heritage and tradition but feel a bit of an outsider now. Anyway, admire all the brave people coming forward and expressing their views on love over hate. Love ALWAYS wins out in the end. |
