You know I look at this way. Adam likes pop, and I like Adam. for me to get more Adam he needs to make it big (and he is right now) so I will play all the silly pop games, punch up buttons, vote and thank radio stations nicely for playing some real music. but you can't make me like Rumours. heresy I know AND I will burn for it. Rumours is my least favorite song on TOH too. I don't hate it, I just can't really get into it.

Everyone here is hanging out in the grocery store as it is cool and air conditioned. I just got home from there and now have one of those gell cooling pads that are supposed to cool you off by sucking the heat out of you, and never require chilling....out of the fridge and tied around my neck with another gel cooling thingy meant to go around the neck. And I am still hot...feet swollen...fingers...face is red....sigh...I live in a temperate rain forest for a reason, ffs.... A water-mister and fans .... Texas life support kit for when the AC goes out. That's what they used in Marrakesh, massive fans spraying out water, and in Grasse in the south of France, they spray perfumed mist out over the streets, it's lovely, but they should do it everywhere..

The talk about Adam being up for a Grammy is making me upset.. Somehow so much talk seems to be about winning ,winning, winning.. I just want to enjoy Adam's music without feeling like I'm attending a horserace.. I find myself getting tuned out and turned off. Need to take a break from this constant competition talk.. Whatever happened to listening to wonderful songs because they make folks feel, not because they came in at #1.. The bar is being set so high ,while music sales are in the pits.. Only the most popular or some song that just gets to people, are selling a a lot. The goal for high sales, not a music's worth, seems to be the only thing that matters. So I am going back to not watching the charts or wishing for Grammy nods to simply listening and loving Adam's TOH. But, but, but . . . . I'm confused. I've been enjoying when you post polls to vote in. I celebrate when you're reporting Spotify numbers and encouraging us to get more listens or more views on YouTube. Isn't all that for the "numbers" in the competition? I enjoy the reports of numbers we get here and the Grammy speculations (it's just wishful thinking and what "should" be based on actual talent and quality). Oh well.

Holst Yes you are right ,I want Adam to do well.. but I try to stick to everyday kind of fun things that are here , now , do-able and that we have some control over by voting, spotifying, etc. Not full of pressure.. If he gets the spot on a radio game Great, if not oh well. Talk of the Grammys ,which we have no control over, seems a bit pre-mature & IMO is like asking for the moon at this time.. Adam is just starting out again, trying to get recognition. The pressure on Adam by ADAM, then by label,I would imagine, and then by fans to reach something that may be unattainable at this time & which is in the near future.. well .. that's when I get upset..Adam has already been up for a Grammy with What Do You Want From Me.Many artists have never gotten that recognition. Grammy talk now just isn't fun to me and takes away from the every day joy of listening to his wonderful new album and playing silly radio games....Sorry for the long explanation..carry on

So I am going back to not watching the charts or wishing for Grammy nods to simply listening and loving Adam's TOH.Want to join me? I'm with you there. It is a trap for me that I find myself repeatedly falling into. I so want Adam to succeed above and beyond even his loftiest dreams. I want the world to embrace him. I start looking for evidence of widespread recognition of his talent by watching numbers, reading tweets, reading online celebrity gossip sites, and listening to top 40 radio. Nothing wrong with that if those are activities that I enjoy. ... But I don't. I've repeatedly given pop/top 40 a try, but it doesn't appeal. Not vocally, musically, lyrically, or thematically. When I give up, switch off my radio, and turn on my iPod to other music, I swear my blood pressure goes down 20 points. A smile spreads across my face, and I ask myself why I waste my ears on stuff just because I want to compare what's currently popular with what Adam is doing. The many things I love about Adam's voice and interpretive and performance ability are not things that are valued for top 40 music. Therefore, I should not be looking for validation of Adam's artistry thru sales and radio play numbers. Or Grammy nominations. Or click bait popularity polls. It feels like high school all over again. And I was miserable in high school because I didn't fit in. Why do I try, at my ripe old age, to fit in to top 40 pop music now? Why do I care what numbers One Direction or Taylor Swift are pulling down? I'm just making myself restive and disturbed. I don't blame the Glamberts in general or the folks on ATop in specific for being passionately interested in the numbers and the pop world Adam is wrapped up in. For them, it is lots of fun. Go for it! Now, excuse me while I go watch a QAL concert and listen to WWTLF one more time. Then flip over to some jazz, celtic or classical music. Diversity makes the world go round. This is exactly why we moved in depth numbers discussion to the numbers thread. Or at least try. The number one most important thing to do is enjoy the music. If some part of the fan world is stressing you out then scroll on past and don't feel guilty. Adam's next level of success is not going to be reach by the efforts of hardcore fans. We are the ones who got him this second chance but the rest is not up to us but the general public and they are fickle. Our strength is in our consistency. As long as he knows we are here that is a core of strength to him. Our presence is not really about the numbers of albums or singles we buy but about the constant show of support. We just need to keep loving him and show him that love in whatever way is best for us individually whether that be concert tickets, radio request, music streaming, merchandise purchasing or just loving and talking about him.
