very interesting POP update: lots of HUGE losses and lots of HUGE gains!
I see two songs coming FAST from below :-
1) Shawn Mendes - hope GT can stay ahead until Sunday
2) Haylee Steinfeld - +399, #35 now but with 1355 bullet and almost 11 mil AI! Obviously I've never heard of her but looks like someone popular and is shooting up.
plus we can't discount Little Mix's gains...
On the positive side - Guetta is down to #11
on HAC - Derullo had a nice drop...may be we'll see some movement in a few weeks...lol
ETA: back to #3 in AU (10:50 am EDT)

CHUM FM Toronto (Canada's largest radio station) - Ghost Town made a huge jump on their TOP 30 this week - the DJ said that Ghost Town was the fastest moving song on the TOP 30 this week. Haylee has a radio deal this week. We'll see how it does after that is over.
Today's chart and yesterday's was very weird IMO. The numbers we got today, as far as negatives, should have been what Wed. looked like! Where all those spins came for yesterday is a mystery to me! Thinking he might have gotten some kind of syndicated spin we are not aware of.
Today POP has 26 negative bullets & songs that have been moving up with no negative got one, like Fall Out Boy's "Uma Thurman."
GT's leader board looks great, IMO. I am especially happy with the spins Sirius Hits One is giving him, finally! And two of the stations that just added are spinning, so they are true "starters."
Oh, and here's a plus. Been monitoring Omarion for the past week. Spin increases got smaller smaller, then went into sizeable negatives yesterday and today. I think yesterday's is more significant since it was a good + day for almost everyone else.
So Omarian dropping may be a nice thing we hadn't seen coming!

On our quick one-week road trip down I-5 to Santa Ana and back, I managed to hear GT in full only twice - just missed it on Ryan's AT40 and caught the tail end another time. Anyway, in the sea of thin, nasal mail voices and thin, whispery female voices, GT really stands out. My brain relaxed when I heard Adam's clear sweet voice. GT really is different from most of CHR radio, so I think it's done really well getting where it has (and I think it will go a little higher).
I hadn't heard The Weeknd song before this trip and heard it a gazillion times. Now it's stuck in my head. Damn!
ETA: Oops, meant to put this on the news thread, but I guess it's kind of a hybrid post anyhow...

Ali Payami (who also did the GT beat) is one of the writers and also produced (together with Max Martin) I Can't feel my face! He is very good obviously. I do like it as well. |
