Well - not voting on Idol tonight - not a Country fan :-/ will leave that to those fans! Loved David Cook's song choice though - one of my fav Simple Minds songs! Saw them perform it at UC Berkeley Greek Theater more than several years ago! (I'm old!) Great concert! ;D

Said in a previous post days back that my nephew Justin is playing Pro-Baseball in Sweden - well here are some of his Stats just in ~ My nephew Justin's stats Stockholm Sweden Baseball ~ (from my sis-in-law), So far... He is batting .391. He is an outfielder and has in the past played right field as a lefty but is now playing center and 1,000 in the field. When he is not playing center field he is pitching... he is a closer and has only had 9 innings pitched but his ERA 0.00 2 hits, 1 bb, 23 strike outs and NO RUNS! Awesome Stats Justin... keep up the good hard work! I'm so proud of him! Any Sweden Atops who follow Sweden Baseball! His name is Justin Trejo #24 - Here's the link ~ www.stockholmbaseboll.com/Please let me know about the games! Posting here because most people go here first - I'll check the personal link that Q3 set-up + you could PM me! Thanks! ;D

mys*&@^#r50 - do you know where I can find those judges reviews? The other judges didn't comment after Mad World, at least on the air. Adam's whole performance ran overtime and only Simon spoke. Millions of people that were recording the show missed Adam's performance and Simon's standing ovation. I checked the results night episode on Megavideo, too. The other judges didn't comment then, either.

I realize it is probably a dead issue at this point but I would hate for people to have the wrong idea about U2 because of some asshole music snob at Pop & Hiss. The author of that article took a simple clarification by Paul McGuinness (U2's Manager) and made it sound like some defensive snobby bullshit. U2 is 4 guys. Any project that does not involve all 4 guys is not at U2 project. The media is hella sloppy about this and because of Bono's political work the band has always been very thorough in clarifying what is band activity and what is individual projects. Bono and Edge have been working on this Spiderman musical since 2002 I think and the media still sloppily refers to U2 half the time instead of Bono and Edge.
Secondly, the idea that U2 would be worried about "rock cred" or "authenticity" is ludicrous because those are dirty words in the U2 camp. People have been accusing U2 of selling out for most of their career starting when they had the temerity to actually become famous as a mainstream act. Oh, the horrors. U2 have no problems with being good business men and having commercial tie ins as long as they don't compromise the music and they are with companies or products that they feel they can stand behind. Hence the U2 Ipod back in 2004 and the ipod ad they did for which they shared in the profits from sale of the U2 ipod rather than simply be paid for doing the commercial. But famously they turned down 23 million dollars from Ford who wanted to use "Where the Streets Have No Name" in a commercial because that song in particular is the one where "God walks through the room" in a U2 concert and they didn't want to cheapen that. They've had other songs used in commercials for the World Cup soccer tournament and each of them did voice overs for the commercials. They absolutely abhor the way that the snobbery of the indie scene puts pressure on artists not to "sell out". Bono told a story once of an extremely talented young punk artist who signed a major label deal and then was so villified by her fans and other artists in the scene that she ended up committing suicide. This whole Spiderman project was condemned by the critics before it was even begun simply because Bono was involved. All the particular Bono haters in the press (and there are a good share in spite of the fact that most love him) started trashing the project when it was still an idea. Every report that came out has been gleefully trashed even before the thing started previews. The whole project seems to have been cursed from the beginning with the original producer dropping dead from a heart attack in The Edge's living room when they were signing the contracts to produce the music. The man who died was a personal friend so I figure Bono and Edge are going to move Heaven and Hell to bring this project to fruition no matter what obstacles get placed in their way.
Bottom line, Bono is no more a Diva than Adam is but he has always been supremely confident in the music that the band has made and he has been taking hate for that for 35 years now. The only difference between Adam hate and Bono hate is that Adam gets the added Homophobic shit. Bono has lived with death threats since the early days of U2. Adam and Bono actually have a lot in common and many of the qualities that we love about Adam as a person are things that Bono shares.

The other judges didn't comment then, either. Yes, Mad World ran way over time and at the end of the song Simon said that he would be the only one talking, but that words were unnecessary and that he wanted to give Adam a standing ovation. He stood and clapped and was followed by all three of the other judges. The next night on results night - BEFORE the results were announced and just after the Ford commercial I think, Ryan asked the other three judges (not Simon) their thoughts and take on Adam's performance of the night before. The comments weren't long, but they were there and positive. Ryan also asked Adam how he felt about being given a standing O by Simon. Adam, as always was humble and honoured ;D

Rihannasu, I never really perceived U2 as saying that. It would be contrary to everything I've ever known about them. I was more irritated with Pop & Hiss for perpetuating that rock cred meme.
Kapsiz. Holy crap!! A pitcher with a batting avg. of .391? I don't think I've ever heard of that. And though he's pitched nine innings, a 0.00 ERA?? That's fantastic.
ETA: Rihannasu, I sped read your post the first time, planning to go back and read more carefully once I got it bed (which I did) and OMG!!! Good for them for striking such a savvy balance. That's how it should be, I think. I saw U2 for the first time my freshman year in college and don't think I'll ever forget that show. I've always had hella respect for them and of course Bono for his courage, empathy and determination. that story about the punk rocker is heartbreaking and I didn't realize the producer died while signing contracts. The show does seem cursed, and I'm one of those people who saw the stage production of "The Lion King" and was convinced Julie Taymor was the gutsiest, most creative person on the planet. It's too bad they're struggling like that.

No UStreams of the games here. My brother & sis-in-law + 12yr old nephew are going over as soon as the volcano rests! One of the first things I said to him after seeing pictures of his room was "Love the IKEA Bag on the bed!" ;D Here's my boy ~
