Wow, seriously? I totally disagree with this. Lee has been humiliated by Nigel, tossed aside, given NONE of the winner's usual duties for no other reason than he hasn't been particularly successful. After all this BLATANT DISRESPECT, Nigel comes up to him with a minute to spare before Scotty's coronation and tries to shove him on stage? No warning. Any of that could have been prearranged. It was not only incredibly disrespectful, it was ridiculously unprofessional. And what the hell was Lee supposed to do? Step into Scotty's confetti shower and attempt to say a few words? I say good for him. He was put in a lose-lose situation and he took the option that spared him some dignity and he didn't let Svengali Nigel run his game on him. (I don't think that was even what was going through Lee's mind at the time. He was simply saying no to a ridiculous proposal in an impossible situation.) You know....this is an interesting concept. I remember at one time we used to regularly speculate: "What would Adam do" and I think that might apply here. If Adam had been scorned in some way and the spontaneous, albeit a bit devious, opportunity arrived to rise above and get some publicity for that, what would he have done? ??? : It's funny but I can't see anyone having the nerve even before Adam's post-Idol success to put him in that position. And looking back at the whole "Simon's last night" fiasco, Adam gracefully skipped it when his presence wasn't requested and he was not given enough notice to feel "valued."

Adam is the one-in-a-million person who could take lemons and tomatoes being tossed at him and end up serving the audience Bloody Marys. He's pretty much prepared to do what needs to be done at the spur of the moment. However, I do think he can smell bullshit a mile away and if he gets a sense that he's being used (and he can't turn it to his advantage ... which he is very good at), he'd give them a polite, FU.

I think Adam would have found a way to politely keep the focus on this years contestants- sort of like what he did when he wouldn't sing Aftermath with Alisan and Ferras. He didn't want to shift their spotlight. I could make the case that is what Lee did, at least until Nigel tried to make him look like a jerk. I'm not a fan of Lee's, but I don't see a way he could have won. Adam might have been able to pull it off, but very few people in this world have his finesse.

Sleeping on an airplane in First Class, maybe?? ETA: Yup!!! I'm rambling . God I'm bored!!!! Longest flight ever!21 minutes agovia webAdam is cutting it close! I wonder if he got caught in all the flight cancellations due to storms? mys*&@^#r, any idea when Adam should arrive in Moscow??? It seemed to me he was cutting it close, but is Adam ever early?? I only hoped he could get a bit a rest before the concert. First, I think these tweets are fake. Adam was out clubbing last night, so I don't think he left last night. Have no idea when he would get there but anytime Friday should work. The flights I checked the other day, all had connetcions in Europe and they got him there on Friday. It's one show and gone, he should be fine. The good thing about fast trips is that by the time the jet lag hits you, you are home!! Although, I am hoping for a sidetrip to Finland and Sweden (Max Martin) for he and Sauli!

I like to think Adam would have laughed and said, sure-why not and where's my mark. and he would have made it a great appearance. Course, Adam is a professional thru and thru and a showman as well. He could have easily handled it. Lee is not and probably would have looked like a lost lamb in that situation and he knew it so the decision he made was right for him.

Lee may get more mileage for not being asked than if he had actually been on stage.

It's that super charisma, happens to Bono all the time too. I love watching Bono interviews because even the most experienced, professional, even jaded and cynical journalists can turn into puddles of goo for Bono. Diane Sawyer turned into a blushing 13 year old GIRL when she was interviewing him. Brian Williams openly admitted to having a HUGE mancrush on Bono. It's hilarious at times. Some of you have had the opportunity of meeting Adam. Can any of you relay your experience of why you felt he was so captivating in person? My observation of Adam is he is SO present with each person he is with. How could one not feel that? But my experience is limited to vids. I'd be fascinated to hear your thoughts. The bolded part! The line for signing after the Portland concert was not really very long. And what screamed out and surprised me was how he worked the line. He would stop in front of you, look directly at you and make a comment and look for what you wanted him to sign. NEVER looking anywhere but right at the task at hand and engaging with the person in front of him. I was amazed at his focus. He would do his thing with the person, and then step sideways to the right, do his thing with the next person and .... It was so funny because everyone up to and including me had something for him to sign and then he stepped right to the girl next to me ready to sign something. Only she didn't have anything and it was so funny because he was so surprised and we all laughed. She asked to just take a picture and of course he said yes. In hindsight she should have had him sign her camera:-)
