I don't think it's off topic to post opening week sales of the Idols' releases. But if you all do, I will delete it. HDD predictions of album sales. Beyonce is predicted to sell 275K-300K. And, “Seventh season American Idol winner David Cook’s second 19/RCA/RMG album is looking at estimated sales in the 35-40k range, a far cry from the 280k debut for his first album.” 4th highest total for albums debuting this week, behind Beyonce, Big Sean and Selena Gomez www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news08591m01 ETA: HDD just changed it to 45-50K

I think David's numbers are relevant b/c it shows an American Idol (just one season before Adam) that sold HUGE album numbers, and is now....... eh.
I'll admit, I'm worried for Adam.
Factors in Adam's favor -> More visibility in the press. A more recent radio presence. A musical sensibility more in line with the current flavors.
However, (and I'm being really brutally honest) he's not Beyonce, Katy Perry, or Gaga levels of visibility...except to us. He had one big hit (WWFM), and another that whimpered a bit - at least in the US (not talking about New Zealand or Singapore!). Outside the AMAs, he hasn't been seen on big tv. While he can be found pretty often in the electronic gossip columns, he's just not that visible in print media. Snooki gets more hits on Google.
I'm scared.

I'm nervous, too, HSM. I'm 100% sure it will be bigger than Cook's but by how much, I don't know. If the first single doesn't shoot up, right out of the gate, I would want (ya, I'm greedy) at least 80-100,000. Then it could grow from there, with more radio promo and a second single. But, if the first single really takes off and is doing well by album drop time, I think 100K+ would not be out of the question. The thing about Cook is he sold 1 million plus of album #1, had 2 platinum singles and one gold. He was an extremely popular Idol. Where do those fans go? I mean, I know he needs non-Idol fans to really have a big album or single, but shouldn't his Idol fans have gottten him more sales than 45K???? What happens to the fanbases of these guys! (Anxiously awaiting Kelly's release now.) It's scary! :-/

Sadz to hear about Cook's album number. I'm scared too. First single hit is important when you don't have AI buzz right off the show. AI watchers tend to move on to the next idol. TLG doesn't seem to be a big hit.
I think Cook took too long for his 2nd album.
Here's hoping we will get a good single from Adam#2!

I'm seeing cook's numbers also and that's a steep decline. I'm hoping Adam has picked up more fans outside the ai base. But what is the % drop for the sophomore album? Can we tell by thevsize of the fan base by the # of acoustic albums sold? Or even the download of the Trevor single. I'm a bit nervous. Just tHink of the pressure he must be feeling!
