I also put a * in sh*t or f*ck so as not to alert the censors! ;D That's also good to know, I didn't know there were censors on twitter! Learned 3 new things here today. since when are there censors? i know there used to be a curse bot that was funny as hell - it used to curse back at you. but didn't know there were censors.

they also cause people who are new or unfamiliar to feel excluded and therefore not welcome. "in group" bonding belongs on private/exclusive boards where having inside jokes or whatever doesn't detract from the flow of conversation. JMO. Online life is rife with acronyms, short-hand and code that changes by the day, even the hour. Everyone experiences a bit of fish-out-of-water syndrome when they first jump in. We all went through it and you go from a newbie (noob), to experienced, to expert, to completely fluent and innovative at different rates of speed. Some manage to become comfortable with it in a day; others it takes much longer. It's an integral part of communication and now it's just being done at an extremely fast rate on an international level. And if anyone ever wonders what something means, all's they have to do is ask. They'll get multiple responses within seconds. Okay, I have one ... every now and then I see someone use the term "accidently'd" as in, "Oh, Adam accidently'd Twitter again" ... it seems to mean the boy's (and his fans') ability to "break" things (like Twitter, charity sites, maybe Idol). It must be from AI8 days because I think it predated Planet Fierce and I lurked faithfully there, but I hadn't discovered fandom or online communities till after the AI8 finale when I went online thinking, "I can't be the only one who thinks this just ain't right ..."

I still don't know what all the letter thingys mean. I was certain that ETA meant Estimated Time of Arrival, not Edited To Add. I did wonder why no one ever included the actual time of arrival, though. I remember asking what OLFIP meant back on PF. I never found that one funny. I spent the most time trying to figure out asj+djru%wop!w;pdk#fgu%gnr)nszzkk3@*^. I'm fairly certain I spelled that one wrong. asj+djru%wop!w;pdk#fgu%gnr)nszzkk3@*^ = There are no words to express what I want to say or it's just cussing. There is no correct spelling. It's just random keystrokes. Over on ONTD_AI they called that a keyboard smash. Where you just can't do anything but flail on your keyboard because something is so very epic. Adam's Moscow experience jmlkdna[e kvn;kmfjewqvhj,ieku5-gv[qejmtrog;mxoi547p4smv Words don't work so the only thing you can manage is a keyboard smash.

That whole accidentally thing confused me for months. There would be a photo of Adam with You accidentally my vagina written on it! I'm not sure I ever understood it completely. Maybe I wasn't supposed to. There also used to be the use of ~ before a word all the time for sarcasm. I ~understand what accidentally means! I actually like that one because sarcasm doesn't always convey well in writing.

In my past life ETA DID mean estimated time of arrival in the shipping freight community:-) and now I know what it means here. asj+djru%wop!w;pdk#fgu%gnr)nszzkk3@*^. This is also called a keysmash; usually means you're flailing so hard or freaking out so much that you cannot possibly type. LOL! So funny how in the "early days of the Internet" I had friends who were the first to jump online. I wanted little to do with it. That was back in the day when everything online, including emails were typed in lowercase and it drove me crazy. When I IMed or texted, I still used proper capitalization and grammar. Oh, how that's gone way to the wayside and I love it. I find it liberating and fun (I'm someone who loves the evolution of language and communication). I think Dr. Seuss is an absolute genius how he plays with words and sounds and conveys so much meaning in seemingly nonsensical (but certainly not) language play. As an editor, it drives me nuts when AP Style is two years behind the language curve. It makes publications look completely outdated when adhering to AP Style (which mine does). Slowly but surely, it catches up, but usually after a year of awkwardness. Cassie's interview on Sound Bath is all about the evolution of communication and I thought it fascinating. ETA: ~ denotes quotation marks, but it's a way to cut out one Twitter character. It doesn't necessarily imply sarcasm, sometimes it's inflection.

Angelina Kalahari's most recent radio program, featuring cassie from Adamtopia (yes, at the introduction, she mentions this site) is now posted on YT. Part one talks about communication in general and communicating with people who are deaf. About half way thru part two, Angelina starts to list attributes of a singer that make him/her a master communicator. At about 9"15 on part three we start to discuss Adam in particular, as a master communicator. Part four continues that discussion and ends with three Adam songs. This is the link for the first part. From there, you can click on the arrow where it says "20 videos" to find parts 2-4. Hope you like it. ty for the YT link
