Q3: I know what you mean, it's just not the same. When someone speaks about their favorite artist their face lights up and you can feel how much they love them. It's hard to get that feeling through mail/the internet. When I think about record stores it always takes me back to one of my favorite movies:

Q3 you are amazing.I'm always blown away by your knowledge. The situation you're describing has bothered me for quite some time.I keep seeing recored stores disappear. In my eyes this has social consequences as well.Record/book stores are not only places to purchase items but also a place to discover news music and meet new people with similar interests.I remember when I was a child there was a record store my friends and I used to go to all of the time.It was kind of a gathering place. Now I think a lot of people discover music through the internet. But somehow I have the feeling that the music people are exposed to is more limited.Meaning, if the radio plays only certain music and there are hardly any records stores where workers will recommend bands/artists then the it's up to the consumer to "haunt" for new artists. Not everyone does that. One of my friends kinda gave up and she mostly listens to artists she likes and hardly any new music. Sorry for the long post, It's just a subject that's important to me. I agree completely, I discovered some of my favorite artist in record stores. Now I do get a lot of online referrals and discover new artists. Somehow it is not the same as a live, personal referral. Q3 I'm also blown away by your knowledge. This article you wrote makes me feel so sad. I also discovered some of my favorite artists in record stores and writers in book stores. Angelkrash's post also completely covers my feelings. I never download songs (the only song I downloaded is Aftermath that aloha gifted to me), I want to buy the physical copy and touch it and feel it and read the lyrics and sing along. Same with books. I cannot possibly imagine read a book in a pc screen. Record stores were also the place where we used to hang out, discuss new artists etc. LOL when I first started working at the age of 18 and didnt have any obligations all my paychecks would go to new LP's. Sometimes I feel like I'm old because of this. Good thing that people like angelkrash or my daughter remind me that maybe there's a few of us left but there's still hope that not everything will vanish.

Adam and Xtina - well ok. What everz. I like her voice when she just sings but when she does the whole diva screaming run thing I am over it really fast. Would depend on the song I guess.
My dream collaborations for Adam are not in the slightest bit commercially motivated, just would love to hear him sing with certain people who also have amazing voices - one day. For now am happy for him to make his own music and be successful with it. I think that Adam #2 will be a solid successful album building on FYE but that we might not see him have "the album" until #3. But what the hell do I know (on this not much) so is just a feeling.

Aww Catz dont cry.... I take it like this : She says SHE is not working with them together. If (a big IF here) they recorded a song maybe it was written by someone else, right? It does not have to be with Sia :D

But your essay about how Amazon is "killing the stores I love" sinks me into profound depression. I cannot tell you how many fabulous and unique record stores have shut their doors in the past few years. It truly saddens the hell outta me.
:-[ Me too. Record stores and book store were truly magical places. Especially the used ones where everything was cheap and you wondered around until something "spoke" to you, or an album cover made you laugh so you bought it without listening. The store clerks were a wealth of knowledge, almost like a sacred position passing on their secrets to those with the desire to learn, be moved, needed a laugh. I'm reminded of a quote from Black Elk, a Shaman who told the story of his life from the time before anyone had seen a white man and up to the point where they are all living in square houses on a reservation and he's now old and sad remembering when they lived like nature intended, in a circle. " Others came, too, and we made these little gray houses of logs that you see, and they are square. It is a bad way to live, for there can be no power in a square.[/b]" That's how I feel about the move to the computer to find our entertainment. There can be no power in this electronic box. But I realize I'm a hypocrite because that's how I found Adam. 8-) As Gilda Radner's hard of hearing character would sat...Nevermind. ;D Good night all.

lol Seoulmate, poifect response as always Gelly babe, personally I'm not sad at the Sia thing, but many here at Atop were rooting for this collab, so am sadz for them. Personally I would prefer Adam to NOT do a duet with anyone right now. I want it to be all about HIM for the foreseeable future and then perhaps, maybe. I'm not a Xtina fan (must of missed her heyday somewhere along the decades ) and I also need to join Nica and the others that didn't find Adele's live SLY inspiring. Sorry all, but I tried to watch a couple of weeks ago when it was originally posted and then again today when many were applauding her performance. I get that she is sincere, puts her all into it and it is a heartfelt performance, but (shock, quelle horror) I got bored both times and never made the end. Now, in saying that, I absolutely friggin adore Rolling in the Deep and yesterday I actually went looking for a YT of it so I could listen to it whilst working. That's a first in a very long time - well since Adam came along and consumed me that is Still trying to catch up on everything, but yay! my deadline is done and I can play in Adamland again \o/
