Loved reading the recaps of the last 3 shows because you all articulate perfectly what makes Adam so incredibly special as a performer. I was at the Vegas and 2 LA shows and the confidence Adam has on stage now is incomparable to his first shows during the Idol tour and in Vancouver/Indio - which were the first times I saw him live. He doesn't indulge in the vocal acrobatics as much - not as many high notes (like in Fever and FYE) but I love his sound in the lower register and his pitch is amazing.
I do think the experience is very different if you're in the first few rows and have eye contact with Adam than being further back. In Vegas I had the normal VIP package and was close enough to see every expression and nuance in his face and body language as well as having that spine tingling experience when his intense gaze sweeps across the front rows and draws you into his orbit in an indescribably exciting way. His every motion is so well executed and perfect - the consummate showman. Yet, all of it is done in service to the emotional content of the song.
In LA, I had originally snagged a Row 2 seat when they went on sale but lost it when the Ticketmaster glitched out during payment. No matter. It was interesting to see the show from Rows K & N because it's a different experience. Still amazing and wonderful but not quite as intense. Also, the further back you get, the more the sound quality depends on the talents of the person at the mixing board plus your location in the hall. My one criticism is that there were certain songs where the "helium" effect was noticeable in both LA shows. That is, where Adam's voice takes on a slight metallic, thin, hollow quality. It's hard to describe. The thing is, if you put your fingers slightly in your ears, it sounds great again - so it's not Adam.
On another note, that was my big problem with Alex Newell's performance. The balance was horrendous - esp. in Vegas - with his musicians WAY too loud and the bass so booming it went right thru you but not in a good way. I felt most of his performance was forced as he shouted to be heard above his band and I didn't enjoy it. It was better in LA, but honestly, I wouldn't pay to hear him unless the balance and dynamics were fixed. I HAD to wear ear plugs for Newell's part but not for Adam because the balance was so much better.

Well it is so late & at the end of the day. Wasn't sure whether to put my little recap here or wait til tomorrow. I was able to go to both Sat & Sun LA shows. My sweet sister went with me on Sat night. I missed the presale so got tickets from StubHub a couple days later. We were in first row center on the aisle. We had a fantastic view. This was our 4th Adam show together...last GlamNation show, Fantasy Spring 2, QAL in LA. Sat next to a really nice gal who has been to many many shows...all by herself. Said she doesn't know anyone that wants to come. She was a good seat mate. There were about 7 gay men in front of us (last row of mezzanine) We had fun watching them dance & joke around. I sadly have to say that the sound was so loud that it was hard to hear Adam at times. And the chipmunk affect was at the half way level for me. My sister & the gal next to us heard it too. We all had earplugs but it didn't help much. I haven't read any other recaps that experienced this. It is so baffling to me how this happens. Anyway, Adam was so amazing & we totally loved the show. Laleh was a beautiful surprise. We were so stoked to be there. For Sunday night, I was able to get the presale tickets..2nd row mezzanine over to the left side. When I bought the tickets, I had no idea who I was going to bring with me. But I decided to treat myself as life is short. If I couldn't find anyone, I would sell 2 & go by myself. But it turned out that the 2 friends that came with me were the perfect choice. The first friend I asked is crazy about Adam but has never seen him. Then we thought about who we should ask to join us. When we made our decision, it couldn't have been better. It turned out she did like Adam, had voted for him on Idol but not followed him since. We all hadn't seen each other in a few years so we had a great time at dinner catching up. Of course I was concerned about the sound again. I just wanted this to be the best experience for them. But no worries..it was perfect!!! And the loudness was much less too so we could hear every word out of his beautiful mouth. They loved their seats too. Our view of the stage was just like the full video that is posted but from the other side of the stage. On the other side of me was a couple who had never seen Adam before either. She was the fan & said she goes to all her husband's rock concerts with him & it was his turn to go with her. I assured him he was in for a treat..that Adam was so charming & likable & fun that it is impossible not to have a great time. And he did of course totally enjoyed it & said "He is so good!" My friends were blown away as was I. So happy to have gone to both shows. My sister was happy for me too that the sound was great for us. Adam is just so beautiful in every way. It's turned out that I see him once every 2 years. It's worth the wait. Thanks to everyone on this forum for all the videos & information. My friends were impressed with all I knew about him & they were so interested to hear all the stories. I gave Adamtopia all the credit. So good night all...whoever is up. Hope this doesn't get lost being at the end of the thread. Till next time.
