I cut him some slack - he is allowed to be human, as are we all. Sometimes I wince about some unthinking comment I have unwittingly made. Why would I expect perfection from him when I don't expect it from myself or my family. I am not disappointed in him at all. I respect him and I love him for being Adam, neither saint nor sinner, just human. One fine, generous gorgeous human - just sayin' You are so right!!!!!!!!!!

I just do not get the accusation of ageism concerning Adam's SnapChat. Nothing of the sort occurred to me when reading Adam's comment. For one thing, 60% of SnapChat users are 13-34 according to www.snapchat.com/ads . So yea, there is a much greater probability that someone who did not get that this was a SnapChat filter of some sort is in the Grandma age group. I don't even use SnapChat even though I am a computer techi type. And most of my friends my age have difficulty comprehending anything beyond CDs and DVDs. So, I do not see anything wrong with the implication that older people are less likely to get the SnapChat capabilities. And second, we know that Adam absolutely LOVED his Grandma. Here is a video where he describes his Grandma. I think the description fits a lot of his older fans too!!! And it is a loving compliment, not something derogatory! twitter.com/14gelly/status/732740822874087425www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4QcvdX_NHA

Remember the interview where he said that some of his fans said they liked the first part of Ghosttown, but didn't understand the techno stuff? He said "That's cuz it's for your grandkids." With a big smile. I thought it was hilarious.
I'm of grandma age, and I have struggled to keep up with the technology. I had no idea what the heck was going on with the Instagram face swap. I didn't comment to Adam or lecture him, but I get it if he made a snide comment aimed at those fans who offered unsolicited criticism or advice.
I place the comment against all that I think I know about Adam: his joy at the diverse fan base, his graciousness to fans of all ages, his active and repeated encouragement to accept our differences and emphasize our similarities, his personal experience and the experience of his community with discrimination and stereotyping and bullying and judging... put it all together, and I cannot believe he is intentionally degrading or attacking women of a certain age. It just doesn't fit.

Many people in my life have disappointed me at one time or another. It doesn't mean I stop lovng them. I love Adam. He was thoughtlessly rude with a remark. I was disappointed. I am not blowing it up to mean he wants me to disappear. That is over reacting. The guy is probably road weary, tired, a bit crazy right now! I think the June character is great! Good enough to be a SNL skit! ❤️❤️❤️

People are getting his snapchat and instagram confused! It was a comment he changed on an old IG photo that we ( who were disappointed) are talking about! NOT THE SNAPCHATS!

First of all, congratulations to crazy old gal on the birth of her first grandchild! That is wonderful news!
Secondly, Grandma June sounds a lot like some of my Midwestern relatives who are very Scandinavian. My Heritage is Danish Norwegian , and I remember watching the movie Fargo and laughing out loud at many of the characters. Since I am 54 years old, I am certainly old enough to be a grandmother. As many have said on this forum before, if you don't like what you read , scroll is your friend and it's not that deep!
I thought those Snapchat posts were hilarious and not meant to offend anybody. I love Adam and his crazy personality and even when I don't agree with him, I find him fascinating because of how his amazingly creative brain works. I also do impressions and never mean them to be offensive--just funny. I learned long ago that if everyone likes what you are doing, you are not doing anything interesting. Adam has said himself that he likes to push boundaries and that is part of being an artist. I don't always see eye to eye with him, but I respect him for his fearlessness on so many levels.

If it wasn't intentional, he would have deleted it by now. Stirring some shit and showing us his dickhead side. I love it!

What did Adam possibly say to get this reaction from some fans about ageism.. I don't usually care for the snapchats but I LOVED the last one.. He is totally talented.. what am I missing??? I'm 76 ,probably the oldest member of Adamtopia..I dance my way through life and sometimes act immature .. so be it . I have found Adam to be very respectful of those who also show respect for him..I have to say I have met some older fans at live performances who embarraseed me by their pushiness and by acting like older self important, entitled groupies. At Miami Pride they got to the front early pushed their way in and left the younger fans in their dust.. I know for a fact that some young gay folks have sometimes given up getting close to the stage or even going to his shows. Now this may have nothing to do with the snapchat, but these are my feelings that I have hidden for a while. IMHO,Yes if you have the money, the time and love for Adam go to his shows.. but you don't own him,let others also get to experience the joy of seeing him and not turn other fans off . Now I might be off the subject ,but I feel a bit bad for Adam.. He has tried kindness, humor and some entitled older fans could care less and think he's kidding when he's annoyed. I'm not hidding behind any couch either because I'm a proud granny who can laugh at herself and knows not to act like my 15 year old granddaughter. If Adam told me to stop taking videos for the 20th time I would stop taking videos, because I respect him as an artist and It's his show. I certainly wouldn't ignore him and continue taking pictures of him telling me off. That's really chutzpah . Now to top it off folks are telling him what and how to post.. Rant over.. It was worth it even if I'm kicked off Adamtopia Your thoughts are mine, exactly, melliemom---and you expressed them better than I ever could, so "Thank You." I, too, have been embarrassed by some of the entitled, pushy older fans who think they own Adam. He's an artist, an incredible singer with the kindest heart----and he's also human and allowed to express himself, even if everyone doesn't always like what he says. And my goodness, he's also allowed to make mistakes-just like all of us---and he's entitled to let us know when he's fed up with certain behaviors without being mocked or ridiculed-or even worse, not taken seriously. I also happen to be a grammie, blessed with two beautiful grandchildren---and my heart is young and free and filled with love for Adam and his music which have given me more joy over the past 7 years than I could ever imagine. That is all I'm entitled to from him---his beautiful presence on that stage and sharing his "gift from God" voice. There are lines I should never cross---grabbing him, or sticking cell phones up his crotch, for instance. I don't believe Adam has disdain for fans of any age. I still remember the face of his sweet grandma sitting there in the audience when Adam was on AI all those years ago.The JOY and pride in her face when Adam was oerforming, said it all---Maybe we all need to pause a little and realize that all Adam wants is a little respect, which is what we all long for. OK__now everyone can go ahead and hate me, but I couldn't stay silent about this any longer----------------and I so admire what melliemom wrote.

for those of us in the dark - what were the "original swap comments"? i there are/were quite a few comments telling him to quit messing with his face (botox), etc. Some quite authoritative and mother henny. the usual ... add in the judgemental comments about the dude he face swapped with being under age and I expect enough was enough. His IG, he can and should say whatever he wants. his 'no filter' is a thing of fandom pride until it comes at you. j/s I don't think this is about age at all. It's about mothering, grandmothering, helocoptering, smothering, overly concerned, micro managing. Anyone of any age or gender can and does do this to him.
